I was first diagonsed about 14 months ago. The doctor who I seen immediately
got a 2nd opinion, and he too was more than satisified I did have CTS. After
a lenghty discussion, they opted to provide me with braces for both hands,
and also an injection of cortisone into my right hand.
Was after the 2nd injection of cortisone that my doctor finally referred me
for the surgery, this being last October. The Consultants Nurse who I seen,
again confirmed I had and said surgery was the best answer for me, but was
shocked at my age. A physiotherapist gave me some exercises to do, as well
as massages to do before I seen the Consultants Nurse.
I have been very little informed about the procdures involved, by anyone in
the process. Ive only been told the basics, and nothing about aftercare etc.
Ive learnt more from searching the net, than by talking to Doctors.
Thanks for replying Julie

> You're so young to have this. If you are asking these questions, maybe
you're not quite ready or informed about the surgery enough??? I'm sorry to
sound judgemental. These are things you really should discuss with your
doctor BEFORE you get cut. I have cts, tos and cubital tunnel syndrome. My
doctor kept pressuringme to have the surgery and when I went for a second
opinion, my new doctor was against mehavign the surgery since I had been
diagnosed for less than ayear. He didn't recommend the surgery fo rme, and I
am again with another doctor who finally doagnosed the tos and cubital
tunnel syndrome. I think if I had gotten the carpal tunnel release, it woul
dnot have mattered since my problem originated at my shoulders. Actually, i
have found a great deal of relief from massage and acupuncture.
