I have a client with Parkinson's. We get together about every 3 wks for a
session. I've been doing hand/feet & FSR (yin tuina - a passive holding
technique of the foot & ankle developed for PD folk). Tonight we decided to
start with the B. Toe Hold instead of hands (Like Ien, I wanted to do it before
they 'zoned' or fell asleep to get feedback.)
At the end of the session, we discussed the various portions. They said it was
hard to explain, but it felt like energy was flowing down their body and out of
their toes. Found it very relaxing, calming and sleep inducing. I asked if it
felt similar to the FSR, but they said "No, the FSR is more of an internal
feeling of warmth in just that area"
As the practitioner, I didn't feel a real strong energy flow, however, there was
movement of the toes on the right foot (the one most compromised by PD).
Notthe toe I was holding, but the ones next to it - sort of 'shifting'. I
wouldn't have been surprised if there wasn't a noticeable reaction because of
the PD, and so was pleased that they had a reaction.
On Friday, a fellow practitioner is coming for our monthly practice & exchange.
I think this week we'll be trying the B. Toe Hold on each other :) What a
wonderful addition to a reflexology session - but especially in a setting such
as a hospital or hospice where you can do reflexology and finish with this
technique, slipping away after and leaving them to enjoy some much needed sleep.
It would also be great 'home work' for someone in need (like my PD client) if
there was someone at home who would do it for them.
This sharing is fun - and so helpful! Have I mentioned that I LOVE this forum!

just out of curiosity - how long did u hold each toe & to what degree
of pressure?
What I'm finding a challenge is the positioning of my fingers to the
toes.
