We talk about getting education out to the public about what Reflexology is but
how many people have attempted to go to their local newspaper? And if you have
what kind of success have you had? There are many different aspects of
reflexology that the paper could do various different stories about. Myself and
a potential colleague are in the process of trying to get our local newspaper to
do a story. Good PR.

One on one and word of mouth is great but the local newspaper and small
business associations would get the information out there faster.

We all need to keep educating people about Reflexology. I just saw a brochure
from a LMT that described Reflexology as massage of the feet and hands. That was
it. It got me so angry that I am trying to educate people about the wonderful
benefits and what reflexology is all about and other people just ruin it with
their own lack of knowledge. So yes, I think you did the right thing!

so true... I trained for a year with the IIR and have since met people who have
done a weekend course, have no idea of where they are working and how it
corresponds to other areas and have called themselves reflexologists!

totally misleading
My Dear,
By all means you are not being overly sensitive about this. Just the
other
day a Massage Therapist friend of mine was sharing how she would use
her
little cheatsheet during a massage to tell the client what area was
what on
the feet. At that point, as much as I love this friend, I had to
express
just how important it was to be train more than just a 2 day weekend
CEU
course to keep her license as a Massage Practitioner. How Reflexology
is so
much more than Foot or Hand Massage. I am confronted by this all the
time.
I remember being at a party a couple of years ago and hearing a LMT
say that
Reflexology was nothing more than a fancy massage on the feet.
Yes, I totally understand your feeling. And yes, I believe that we
should be
trained as Reflexologist and not as a Modelility under Massage.
Hugs and Blessings,
Liz
