Nancy, I am looking for a chocolate cream pie recipe. I had a piece of one that was dark in color, yet sweet, and very creamy - the best I've ever had. Could anyone help me out please?

I have two teenage children at home this summer while I am at work.  I am worried about where they are traveling and who they are talking to on the internet.  Could you suggest a program that tracks them. I don't want to be distrustful of them but do want to know where they have been on the net.
Kay

Comment:  A parent needs to know where their child has been on the internet. This program secretly tracks all email, instant messages, and what websites As a parent you need to be in control of the mouse and need to know exactly what your children and love ones are doing while on the internet.  I don't consider it spying on children but rather being informed on what is actually being done on the internet. Track their activities (instant messages, email and etc.) secretly by using

A Sheet of Bounce will: (this is new)

1. It will chase ants away when you lay a sheet near them.

2. It takes the odor out of books and photo albums that don't get opened too often.

3. Repels mosquitoes. Tie a sheet of Bounce through a belt loop outdoors during mosquito season.

4. Eliminates static electricity from your television screen. Since Bounce is designed to help eliminate static cling, wipe your television screen with a used sheet of Bounce to keep dust from resettling.

5. Dissolve soap scum from shower doors. Clean with a sheet of Bounce.

6. Freshen the air in your home. Place an individual sheet of Bounce in a drawer or hang in the closet.

7. Prevent thread from tangling. Run a threaded needle through sheet of Bounce before beginning to sew.

8. Prevent musty suitcases. Place an individual sheet of Bounce inside empty luggage before storing.

9. Freshen the air in your car. Place a sheet of Bounce under the front seat

10. Clean baked-on foods from a cooking pan. Put a sheet in a pan, fill with water, let sit overnight, and sponge clean.

The anti-static agent apparently weakens the bond between the food

11. Eliminate odors in wastebaskets. Place a sheet of Bounce at the bottom of the wastebasket.

12. Collect cat hair. Rubbing the area with a sheet of Bounce will magnetically attract all the loose hairs.

13. Eliminate static electricity from venetian blinds. Wipe the blinds with a sheet of Bounce to prevent dust from resettling.

14. Wipe up sawdust from drilling or sand papering. A used sheet of Bounce will collect sawdust like a tack cloth.

15. Eliminate odors in dirty laundry. Place an individual sheet of Bounce at the bottom of a laundry bag or hamper.

16. Deodorize shoes or sneakers. Place a sheet of Bounce in your shoes or sneakers overnight.

17. Golfers put a Bounce sheet in their back pocket to keep the bees away.

This is a message for gary in San Francisco.
gary I know how you feel. I lost my cat Tootsy in August last year. She was a very old friend but I didn't know she had a heart murmur and she went to the vet to be cured and died there all on her own. I hope you always have fond thoughts of Lady kitty Tuxedo. Maybe you need to get another friend now.

Here is a pie recipe that perhaps Diane is looking for. I make it for company when I am on weight watchers and no one knows it is low in calories.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie

4 T. peanut butter
1 1/2 cups crispy cereal (I used rice krispies)
1 T. Honey
I pkg. low fat instant chocolate pudding

Combine honey and peanut butter in microwave to melt for 20 seconds
Stir in the cereal.

Line a small 8" pie tin with mixture to form a crust.

Make some low fat chocolate pudding with skim miulk and pour into shell. (Or you can use cooked pudding but let it cool slightly before adding to crust)
Chill. For Weight Watchers: 1/4 pie is 4 points.

Nancy do you or any of your readers know how to make the carrot casserole or souffle they have served at Furr's. It was light and sweet and so good. It was a side dish along with the beans, spinach etc.  Thank you for all the wonder full recipes.

Hi Nancy- this is Patricia from Montana again. I was recently given a 3 pound box of Superfino Arborio rice. I am seeking some recipes for it. I have cooked it with Chicken Broth and chunks of chicken and it is delicious. I would welcome some recipes for this Authentic Italian Rice and thanking your readers in advance- Patricia

For Diane from Linda in Arizona

This is basically what you described, but it also has bananas. The bananas
could probably be omitted. You could fatten it up also by using regular
pudding and regular Cool Whip.

KRISPY CHOCOLATE BANANA PIE

Crust:
6 T. peanut butter
1 T. honey
2 C. Rice Krispies

Mix peanut butter with honey. Mix in Rice Krispies. Press into pie plate
with metal spoon, building up the edge.

Filling:
2 bananas
1 box sugar free chocolate pudding
2 1/4 C. milk

Slice bananas over crust. Mix pudding with milk and spread over bananas.

Topping:
Light Cool Whip

Top with Cool Whip.

As a young bride I would purchase "Hermit Bars". They are no longer on the cookie shelf and I would love a recipe for them. Can anyone help me? Also my husband talks of visiting a fellow AirForce buddy in Marshalltown, IA, and his mother made a potato salad they he really liked and it had catsup in it. Does that sound familiar to anyone? Thank you all so much for the interesting and fun newsletter -- cudoes to Nancy.
Jptorg

I just requested recipe for Hermit Bars and then looked for myself on the King Arthur Flour site and found the recipe I wanted. I would like the recipe for Potato Salad with catsup in the dressing however. Thank you.

Hi Nancy. I know that you are busy and that you just got back from visiting your brother but I need a big favor. A while back you had sent out a newsletter that had a Master Cake Mix for Microwaves. I don't remember what it was called and I printed it out at the time, and now have misplaced it. We go camping a lot and I think that having the master mix made up before hand would be useful as it only makes a single layer cake as I recall. The mix also listed the ingredients to finish making it into a cake. I can't find it anywhere. I did try and go searching in the past newsletters but gave up after awhile. Please if you can help me with this or know what I am talking about I would appreciate finding out where to go to look for it. Thanks Linda in Grass Valley.

For Marie from Linda in Arizona

PIÑA COLADA POUND CAKE

1 (18.25 oz.) box yellow cake mix
1 small box instant coconut pudding mix
1/2 C. water
4 eggs
1/4 C. oil
1 (6 oz.) can frozen pineapple juice, thawed
1/3 C. rum
1 1/2 C. sifted confectioners' sugar
2 T. toasted coconut

Grease and lightly flour a 10-inch tube pan.

Combine cake mix, pudding mix, water, oil, eggs and 1/3 cup juice concentrate in large bowl. Combine ingredients with electric mixer on low speed. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Pour into prepared cake pan. Bake at 350ºF for 45 to 50 minutes or until cake tests done. Cool for 10 minutes in pan on wire rack. Remove cake from pan. Place on wire rack over a tray.

Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, combine confectioners' sugar and juice concentrate; bring to boiling point. Remove from heat; cool slightly. Add rum. Prick holes in top of cake with fork tines. Spoon syrup slowly over top and sides of cake, allowing syrup to soak into cake. Sprinkle with toasted coconut. Cool cake thoroughly.

Ritz Cracker Pie
Thanks! so much to the people that responded for my request for this recipe. I have not made it yet...but intend to soon. I have asked around for a long time with no results and was hoping someone would know of it with this message board. Again thank you!
~Susan~

I made this cake today but when I was mixing it up I noticed that the directions said to cream the sugar and butter or margarine. The recipe did not have an amount for the sugar, so I used about 1/2 to 3/4 c. of sugar. Seemed to work all right. Thought you might want to know something's missing from this recipe. Thanks for the website.
Judy

Marie was wanting a Pina Coloda Cake, here's my recipe, I don't know if it's what's she's searching for but am glad to share:
1/2 cup dark rum (80) proof
1 pkg Coconut Cream Flavor Instant Pudding and pie filling

1/2 cup water
1/4 cup oil
1 cup flaked coconut

Blend all ingredient. except coconut in large bowl. Beat 4 min. at med. speed of mixer. Pour into greased and floured bundt pan (or you may use a 9x13 in. pan that I prefer), bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 for long pan or until cake spring back when lightly pressed. Do Not Underbake. Cool and frost; sprinkle with coconut. Chill.
Frosting: Combine 1 can (8 oz) crushed pineapple in juice, 1 pkg Jello Coconut Cream Flavor Instant Pudding and Pie Filling and 1/3 cup dark rum in bowl; beat until well blended. Fold in container (9 oz) frozen whipped topping thawed.
Hope you enjoy this!

I signed up for The Good Cook Cookbook Club and have been very happy with it.  I like it because I can do my shopping at home.  They have a lot of nice cookbooks at reduced prices. I order books from the cookbook club as gifts as well.  They make great birthday gifts and wedding gifts. I was impressed with the selection and the prices.  My favorite books is the Casserole book and the barbecue books they have listed. Thanks for posting it so I could take advantage of it.

Was wondering if you or anyone out there has a recipe for orange muffins. Have eaten them in restaurants, but never seen a recipe for them or even a mix for them. Love your site and all the good recipes. Thanks for your good work. Jeanette

Hi Nancy,

Yesterday I received an e-mail and it was from nancyskitchen Lets Be Friends and contained a virus and my Norton Virus would not let me open it. Do you know anything about it? I love your news letter and will be more careful now. Thanks, Pat

Comment:
No email was sent from Nancy's Kitchen yesterday. I update my virus checker daily and run a complete scan of my computer each night.  I do not have anybody in my address book as well. It is highly improbable that one came from my computer.  It is more probable that a virus was  "spoofed" from my address.  This means it appears to be sent from my address but was not.  Many of the viruses out there attach to an unread mail sitting in your email box and makes it appear it is from another address.  It is important to keep your virus checker current and to run it frequently.  My virus checker checks both incoming and outgoing mail. I also have virus protection on all mail that comes through AmarilloOnline.

I friend updated their virus checker faithfully on a daily basis but when I looked at her virus checker she had never done a virus scan of her system in over a year and a half.  After the virus scan was done she had over 20 viruses on her computer.  Just because you have a virus checker on your computer it doesn't automatically run unless it is set it up that way.  It doesn't update on a daily basis if it isn't set up that was as well.  Norton 2003 protects viruses coming through Yahoo Messenger and AOL Instant Messenger.

This weekend my DIL served steak tips from the Roche Bros. (MA grocery store) ready-to-eat section. The listed ingredients were steak tips, Caesar dressing, Coca Cola, garlic, and salt and pepper. Does anyone have a similar recipe? Thanks.

This is for ssomar13@...

This is how I do Candied Dills.
1 gallon jar Dill pickles ( I buy them at Sam's or BJ)
Sugar

Drain the dill pickles and save the brine. Slice the dills length wise
and cut them into fourths. Place the spears into quart jars and then start working in the sugar you really need to get in each jar as much as possible (I keep working it with a knife) It will always take a little more. Pour the brine into the quart jar. Place in the fridge and shake them up everyday until the sugar has melted. Leave in fridge for a month before using.
These are wonderful and easy.

Rita

In response to:
I am looking for a reduced fat (not fat free) Garlic Italian dressing recipe. We have lots of fresh garden lettuce. I would also love a pasta salad dressing recipe.

For the person looking for a REDUCED Fat Garlic Italian Dressing. I got this off of Weight Watchers. Just add as much garlic to it as you want.........can't have too much!

Reduced Fat Creamy Italian Dressing
From the kitchen of NORITA65

servings | 9
estimated POINTS per serving | 1

Ingredients
6 TBSP. Kraft Classic Italian Vinaigrette Dressing (regular)
2 TBSP Kraft FF Mayonnaise

Instructions
Blend two ingredients together, thoroughly. Store in small cruet with tight stopper or small bottle with lid in refrigerator as you store any salad dressing after it has been opened. 1 TBSP=1 POINT; 2 TBSP=2 POINTS.

Special Notes
I couldn't find a reduced fat Creamy Italian Dressing, and decided to make my own. I like this better than the "store bought" dressing I used to use and one tablespoon is sufficient dressing for a small salad. Very satisfying. Enjoy!

Linda

ShirlRiv asked about websites for arranging cut flowers. If she will go to "Google" and type in "arranging cut flowers" it will bring up numerous websites on the subject.

Thanks, Nancy, for your time and effort in publishing the newsletter. I always look forward to it. I, too, have cats, and know exactly how much joy your Siggy and Annie bring.

2. Add creamer and blend for 30 seconds.
3. Add cold water and ice and blend until ice has dissolved.
4. Add powdered egg whites and blend for about one minute.
5. Pour into glasses slowly.
6. Refigerate and it will separate just like you remember it.

Have you the recipe for a jell-o mold that looks like stain glass? Our gal brought it but speaks little english so we are not getting the recipe correctly. Would love it if you have it, as I am a Tupperware Distributor with 350 consultants that would use it.

This is a recipe for sweet dill pickles that my daughter-in-law gave to me. They are really delicous and not hard to make.

Sweet Dill Pickles
25 cukes 4 to 6 inches long
3 cups of water
6 cups white vinegar
6 cups of sugar
3 tablespoonso f pickling salt
Garlic buds and dill

Soak whole cukes in ice water 3 to 4 hours-drain well.  Slice or cut in strips, Pack in sterlized jars, along with garlic bud
(cut to release flavor) Add a head of dill. Combine water, vinegar, sugar and sugar. Bring to a boil, our over pickles, seal.
Process in boiling water bath for at least 10 minutes. Store at 70 to 75 degrees until pickles look transparent, about 3 weeks. These look
shriveled at first but plump up later. I make these every year and everyone really likes them.
