And nor should we ever argue to our government the healthfulness of a personal
choice. That's not their business, like you said.

However, most of these efforts can be seen at the local level. For example,
here in Alaska, we expect raw milk to be legal this year. What we are doing,
though, is framing it as a business issue. We have convinced most of our
politicians that we need to support our farmers and promote agribusiness. The
costs associated with a pasteurized dairy system have made dairy farming in
Alaska cost-prohibitive. Our politicians agree and have promised to pursue
legislation this year to make raw dairy legal.

themselves on being independent and free. Laws such as these run counter to
that. Government should not dictate how we prepare our food. If people
purchase raw milk and choose not to cook it, then they have no one to blame but
themselves when they get ill. The same principle exists with meat, so dairy
should be treated no differently.

milk, enzyme levels, or the health hazards of pasteurized milk. All we are
arguing is that Alaskans should have access to raw, natural foods and prepare it
how they see fit. Government should not cook our food for us. And, as an added
benefit, it promotes business and, therefore, helps the economy. I guarantee
that you will have far greater success with this kind of legislation if you
frame it in those terms rather than put forth an agenda that promotes the
consumption of raw food.

spearheading -- the fight? Because that is what AV seems to be doing -- again,
based on his emotional committment and passion.

more wholesome foods, if not actually raw), I actually have some. It seems this
new movie (I think the name is something like Food, Inc.) is quite powerful --
as was the book that Pollan wrote (The Omnivore's Dilemma).
