You can at least try the seaweed to see if it relieves the craving. I use kelp, and the package says 1/3 cup contains ~2100% of daily recommended iodine. You can also try 1/4 teaspoon of iodized salt, which contains ~75 mg iodine, the recommended daily amount. See if that relieves the craving, and if so, find a good source of iodine. Be aware that a deficiency in iodine may also mean a deficiency in zinc. They need each other to get absorbed properly in the body. One common symptom of low iodine is always feeling cold. One symptom of low zinc is poor sense of smell or taste. Low iodine and/or zinc can possilbly mean poorly functioning thyroid and/or adrenal glands.
