Description

THIS GROUP IS NO LONGER ACTIVE! This is an unmoderated support and information group for parents who wish to discuss their babies’ and children’s diets, with a focus on healthy varieties of raw and organic food. This is not a group promoting vegan diets.

Raw food includes: breast milk, raw goat, nut, and seed milks, freshly extracted fruit and vegetable juices, fruits and vegetables, and essential fatty acids (coconut, avocado, cod liver, flax, olive etc). The group also discusses alternatives to commercial Formula for those mothers unable to breastfeed ). See: Infant formula fortification protocol at http://www.mercola.com/2000/oct/22/infant_formula.htm
Contrary to the advice given by some, soy milk, almond milk, or carrot juice, even if organic and homemade, are most definitely NOT ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTES FOR BREASTMILK, or even for formula. Parents are encouraged to research a diet for their children that is NOT ONLY RAW, but has the correct amount and type of protein and fat to support optimal brain and physical development. Review the dietary guidelines suggested by Dr Joseph Mercola which can be found at: http://www.mercola.com/nutritionplan/index.htm I suggest all new members read his dietary guidelines and search his impressive database of information. Secondly, visit Dr Barbara Luke's website http://www.drbarbaraluke.com/book_program.cfm
Some group memembers are parents carefully and intelligently following strict raw food diets who might not include any cooked food in their children's diets. Others include a percentage of cooked food. Some are parents who eat plenty of cooked foods, and who simply want to increase their own and their children’s intake of raw foods for the good health reasons we all know. The group consists of meat eaters, vegans, vegetarians, christians, new age people, attachment parents, schedule-following parents and everyone in between. All are welcome!
