Most likely it's a trapped pocket of milk from a clogged duct.
One of my does has a small lump each time she freshens. It will
eventually get reabsorbed as time goes on. Sometimes, if I squeeze just right,
I
will get a few drops of milk to "leak through" from the skin. Means that
she's got a tiny opening from the pocket to the outside but I don't worry about
it. I do make sure to thoroughly wash her teats and up onto the udder since
the opening is at the juncture of teat/udder. I KNOW that it's not a teat
that's been cut off since she was bred/born here. Perfectly normal in every
other way. I do milk by both hand and machine, depends on how many are
milking and how my hands are feeling at the time. I first noticed it when I
was handmilking only, prior to getting my machine, back when she was a
yearling and had just freshened. Didn't get the machine til the next year.
Just for peace of mind.. pull a sample of milk from each teat and have it
cultured at your State lab. Since it's a sample from livestock, there
should be only a nominal fee if any.
I hope that this helps to settle your fears somewhat.
