Well, I think her point was more just to point out that do we really want more
government monitoring of citizens? Afterall, giving more power to the central
government just enables the next ruler to act on their whim. E.g., perhaps
Obama wants to promote localized agriculture, but by providing the government
with more power, the next "guy in office" may have entirely different ideas (or
Obama may change his mind about something). Remember, the second ammendment was
put into place by those men who understood that when a government takes away a
citizens means of defending themselves, you end up with an extreemly potenially
oppressive government (think Edward Longshanks taking away the Scott's right to
own weapons (William Wallace/Braveheart). You know, no taxation without
representation. Moving too far the left lands one in essentially the same
situation as far right. Stalin was communist, but Hitler was fascist. Yet both
took away rights and
freedoms, and oppressed. The pig who acts like a farmer is, in essence, no
better and perhaps worse than the farmer. (Animal Farm)
I'm not saying by any shot that Obama is a pig in farmer's clothes, I'm just
pointing out that I think Liz was bringing up an issue that has the potential to
lead the country in that direction. Sorry if this comment is long and
over-analyzed, :-P, I in no way intend to offend anyone or sway anyone from one
political party to another.
Keep being possitive. :-) We need to hold our leaders responsible for their
ideas and actions, no matter who they are or what party they're from.

I agree with your positive outlook.
Besides the quote was not made in connection with the incident and out
of context.
