Good luck. I quite June 6th, but have to admit, I am using electronic
vapor cigarettes. It's still hard, but I am doing it. 36 yrs a
smoker. I did quite for 2 years in 02 and again for 2 years in 06. I
think the NRT will keep it permanent this time. No way I could go cold
turkey, even though they say that is the best.

Again.....good luck, you can do it!

For the subscribers that are new. If you want to keep track of how long
you have been quit, you can download a meter that runs in your task
bar. Go to www.silkquit.org
The meter is free. Haven't checked the site lately, but think it is
still on there.

Sure there are all kinds of product out there, but in my mind it's just
substituting one for the other. The best thing is will power, be passionate
about quitting. You may fall of the
wagon once in a while,  but we are all recovering smokers, every fall makes you
stronger. Keep the faith and stay strong, one day the urges will be a memory.

Jennifer, how long have you been "not smoking?" If it has been real recent, you
will just have to bite the bullet for a little while. You are going through drug
withdrawal. Nicotine is a very powerful drug. The tobacco companies don't
advertise that. I felt just awful for about 2-3 weeks after I quit cold turkey
in March. Just hang in there. The physical symptoms are about as bad as the
emotional ones. Every day you go without smoking is 1 more day of victory for
YOU. I quit after 40 years. You can do it. Just be strong...and tough. If you
believe in a higher power, prayer helps. Try to avoid situations where in the
past, you would have lit up a cigarette. I know it's hard. I experienced almost
all of the same symptoms as you did. It is much better now. Just hang in there.

Emotions are buttons in our mind, and they relate to some experience.
Nicotine
soothes our anxieties. Being at peace helps overcome the urge. But we quit, and
quit till
we overcome, and each quit makes us stronger. Don't give up! I'm always saying
to meself:
"No anxieties, no anger, no anguish...nothing to worry about!" When ever I get
upset or frustrated, I repeat that a few times and eventually I become calm
enough to deal with things. So meditate, pray, or medicate, what ever works. God
bless, and good luck.

Im a single mother of 5 children ages 12, 11, 9, 7, 4. I love them but wow the
stress that comes along with raising them.

My youngest son (7) has been diagnosed with servere acute asthma. He has been
hospitalized several times in a months period because of it. I dont smoke close
to him or even in my house or car. The doctor said even the smoke smell
remaining on my clothing mmay trigger him to go into an attack. This gave me my
last and final reason to go smoke-free.

Im setting a quit date of 6/25. By tomorrow Im hoping to have a clear plan
mapped out. Im going with the patch for now. I go to the doctors on the 30th. I
know Im going to need something for stress and hope I can wait that long to have
it. I know the first week is the hardest for everyone but since stress is my
biggest trigger its going to be especially hard. I have to get myself
motivated!!!

I called the quitline so that I have another form of support by my side. They
suggested something that starts with ?blue?. I can take this along with the
patch. Anybody have any other suggestions???

I have quit before, very easily but this time I am having the struggle of my
life. Last time I was smoking non-menthol, now menthol. I have even toggled
around with going back to non-menthol and quitting from there. I also heard it
is easier to give up smoking non-menthols. But either way I dont want or need to
wait until I get addicted to a different flavor of cigarettes!

I seem to be turning into a grinch holding off until I cant stand the urge!!
Any suggestions on that one?? I really dont want to lose my family and friends
over this decision!! Im this sweet loving person and I want to stay that way. I
have been relizing that I said something to hurt someones feelings just a second
to late. I dont want to blame it on lack of nicotine, but what do I blame it on?

Thanks for reading this... Hope to get some support here also. Im hoping for
this not to be a looooong struggle but I have this huge feeling its not going to
be anything close to easy.

Hi group. I was on a quit smoking group before and now I am struggling with
quitting again. But, a while ago, I bought this book, and it seemed to help me
back then.I really liked this book. I hope it helps some of
you.http://www.amazon.com/Easy-Way-Stop-Smoking-Non-Smokers/dp/1402718616Also,
maybe some hard cinnamon candy or chewing on a straw might help you during
stressful times. Drinking a tall glass of water. Going for a walk outside.i
was watching some videos of people who were trying to quit, and this one man was
using some form of artificial cigarette, he called it his "binky." And he was a
hard core smoker for over 35 years, with heart disease. So, it was really hard
for him to do this. But, he said his binky helped him alot. I am not sure
exactly the name of it,but it could help some of you out there.ktli To:

Wow, I have been awake since 2am. Had an early night last night! Im sure you can
only imagine everytime I thought about a cigarette.

Every little thing is getting on my nerves. Ok my nerves are even getting on my
nerves if that makes any sense.

Im so proud of myself for going this long. At the same time I feel like crying
because I cant take the urges.

Question time:

Anybody else have the dreams about cigarettes?

Mine is : Im eating out with friends. The bar calls free drinks for anyone at
the bar (I dont drink anymore, errr). So my friends and I stand up and head for
the bar, only Im the only one who makes it there. I see another associate so i
go sit by her. She pulls out her ciigarettes (bars are no smoking here) and
offers me one. I tell her I quit and she keeps telling me just one. I never give
in but she blows smoke in my face and I start crying??!

Im guessing this means Im fearing coming around a person that does smoke, or the
question if I want a cigarette.

Im staying strong no matter what. What was the worst time period the first
hours, days, weeks, or etc.?

The worst time for me was the first three weeks and about at the three month
point. Something about me and the number three. I have the dreams except in my
dreams I always give in and smoke. Then I experience all the guilt associated
with smoking in my dream too. Stay strong! Take a hot bath to help relax.
20 weeks smoke free. Remember you can!

The first few days are the hardest- but it does get easier after that. Believe
it or not- all nicotine is out of your system after 72 hours- so the addiction
is strictly mental after that.
Keep in mind that a craving lasts only a few minutes whether you smoke or not.
I found that deep breathing and a glass of cold water really helped with mine.
Even after all this time, I dream about smoking once in a while. A couple
nights ago I dreamed I was sitting with a bunch of smokers in an airport smoking
lounge. A girl came by selling Nicorette gum and I told her I didn't need it
because I had quit long ago. LOL
Keep that beautiful quit- you can do it!!
Sincerely,
Dave

quitting again.  But, a while ago, I bought this book, and it seemed to help me
back then.I really liked this book.  I hope it helps some of

maybe some hard cinnamon candy or chewing on a straw might help you during
stressful times.  Drinking a tall glass of water.  Going for a walk outside.i
was watching some videos of people who were trying to quit, and this one man was
using some form of artificial cigarette, he called it his "binky."  And he was
a hard core smoker for over 35 years, with heart disease.  So, it was really
hard for him to do this.  But, he said his binky helped him alot.  I am not
sure exactly the name of it,but it could help some of you out there.ktli To:

over this decision!! Im this sweet loving person and I want to stay that way. I
have been relizing that I said something to hurt someones feelings just a second

That is your mind playing games with you. Habits once begun take
refuge in the mind.

So take control of your mind.
