Interesting, thanks. Sounds like the beginning to the Shotokan kata known as
'Kanku Dai'. It is probably in other NA forms as well but that is where I
know it from.
[Thumb and fore-fingers make a triangle at the level of the head through
which the sun is seen momentarily before pulling the hands away with the
arms sweeping out a great arc ether side of the body. The hands meet level
with the Dantian knife-edge to palm. Then the kata starts proper.]
I have heard this is a beginning meditation to honour the sun. It is a great
kata and you can get energy from it if it is done properly.
