The Vernal Equinox & Yogic Detox   Message List

Spring arrives Mar. 20, 7:34 A.M. EST with the Sun entering the sign
of Aries. As the earth is tilted so that the sun is directly over
the equator, this signifies the start of the vernal equinox. This
time of spring has been celebrated over the centuries as the
beginning of the rebirth period. The Spring Season is probably one
of the most embraced and most significant of the season changes, for
it denotes the start of new life, regeneration of nature and the
renewal of the spirit.
Spring is good time to take a good look at our health and our
lifestyle. Start by looking at the life around you. Are you living
in chaos? Is your home in a shambles? Is there clutter everywhere?
You may want to consider starting with a good de-cluttering session.

The temple, our physical bodies, is the only thing we have to carry
the soul. When our physical bodies are not in proper working order,
everything around us ultimately suffers. Our good health is all we
have that stands between us and the aging process. The longer you
keep your physical body in optimum health, the longer you have your
temple to keep your soul on this plane. Detoxification is the best
way to keep the body at its most ultimate working level.

DETOX

Detoxification is a process that occurs within our bodies on a
natural and continuous basis. Detoxifying is the process of
releasing accumulated toxins and waste products that build up
throughout our system. From birth, we are bombarded by toxins,
externally from environmental sources. Internally, our organs give
off waste products that accumulate in our body. Imbalanced emotions
also play a part in polluting our system with excess chemicals such
as free radicals, homocysteine and cortisol.
Most often the liver is the target of a cleansing herbal regimen,
since the liver is one of the most important organs in the body. It
processes our hormones, contributes to proper digestion, cleanses
the body of toxins, and many other important duties. A good
cleansing regimen, however, will also cleanse and support other
vital organs, such as heart, kidneys, blood, and digestive system.
It will also do wonderful things for your spirit!
It is vital to consume lots of water, with lemon is ideal, and gets
fresh air to flush these toxins out of your system.
DANDELION ROOT: Dandelion Root can be made into a bitter tea
(don't sweeten it, the bitterness is how it works –
you'll get used to it) as an excellent tonic for the liver and
blood purifier.
Dandelion roots are very high in vitamins and minerals. The common
dandelion is an unusually nutritious food. Its leaves contain
substantial levels of vitamins A, C, D, and B complex as well as
iron, magnesium, zinc, potassium, manganese, copper, choline,
calcium, boron, and silicon. Worldwide, the root of the dandelion
has been used for the treatment of a variety of liver and
gallbladder problems. Other historical uses of the root and leaves
include the treatment of breast diseases, water retention, digestive
problems, joint pain, fever, and skin diseases. The most active
constituents in dandelion appear to be eudesmanolide and
germacranolide, substances unique to this herb.

Water should be a very important part of any detoxification program.
Distilled water is best. 6-8 eight ounce glasses a day.

Glutathione is an important detoxification compound. Vitamin C is
the most cost-effective way of raising Glutathione levels. Take
1,000 mg three times a day.

Taking Silymarin, (70 to 210 mg three times per day) the flavonoid
complex from Milk Thistle is a well-researched way to improve liver
function.

Take 1 to 2 tablespoons of water-soluble fiber supplement at night
before bed. Powdered Psyllium, Seed husks, or Oat Bran is suggested.

Fasting is one of the fastest ways to increase elimination of wastes
and enhance the healing process of the body. Go on a three day fast,
four times per year (fasting at the change of the seasons is a good
rule to remember).

Eating a diet that focuses on fresh vegetables and fruits, whole
grains, legumes, nuts and seeds are extremely important.
Green Whole Foods such as Spirulina, Chlorella, Barley Grass, Wheat
Grass, and Klamath Blue Green Algae are important for detoxing.
These ingredients contain the most powerful combination of nutrients
ever known in any grain, herb or food. They contain almost all of
the vitamins, minerals, proteins and enzymes necessary for the human
diet, plus chlorophyll. These necessities are bio-available which
means that they are easily assimilated throughout the digestive
tract, giving our bodies' instant access to vital nutrients.

Weekend Mono-diet:
This consists of a full weekend of relying on a single food such as
grapes, apples, pears (best choice if you have a history of allergy
problems), brown rice, millet, or even potatoes (boiled only).

Yoga poses can be good alternatives to "traditional" health remedies
because they relax the body and mind, improve circulation and
respiration, reduce tension and help the body through its healing
process.

Yogic Detox:

The Yogic breath exercise can be done without instruction, without
danger, and with a good chance that your discomfort and stressful
feelings will be reduced. Relaxation Breath is the most powerful
tool for stress management.
Sit up, with your back straight in any position.
Place your tongue against the ridge of tissue just behind your upper
front teeth and keep it there throughout the exercise.
Exhale completely through your mouth.
Close your mouth and inhale quietly through your nose to a mental
count of four.
Hold your breath for a count of seven.
Exhale completely through your mouth, to a count of eight.
Repeat this cycle three more times for a total of four breaths.

Try to do this breathing exercise at least twice a day.
You can repeat the whole sequence as often as you wish, but don't do
it more than four breaths at one time for the first month of
practice.
This exercise is fairly intense and has a profound effect on the
nervous system.

Deep Diaphragm Breath:
Sit with your legs crossed in a comfortable position. Breathe slowly
and evenly from your diaphragm, through your nose. Fill your lower
abdomen, lungs, then chest with air. Hold for a four count then
slowly exhale the air out from your chest, lungs, then lower
abdomen. Repeat 3 or 4 times.
That's it! Just allow your shoulders to drop and your face relax as
you breathe, deep.
