My son becomes aggressive when he is reacting to chemicals and other things in his environment that is making him feel bad. He can't speak at all, so his only outlet can be aggression when he hurts. I have discovered that he acts out with behavioral problems with nutrasweet, detergent build-up in his clothes, chlorine, clothing made with spandex, and clothing with silkscreen, and who knows what else. Lately, he seems to react with soda (even without nutrasweet). I took him to a Naturopath, who discovered that his detoxification system wasn't working properly. She put him on a special form of glutathione and Sam-e, and that has been very helpful.
But the most prevalent symptom of autism was the inability to look anyone in the eye.
i am not sure about these symptoms. Jacob's autism spectrum is more displayed by non-verbal, stimming and rocking. The only time he became aggressive was when we had him on prozac for a little while. Once we took him off it it disappeared, other than occasional hair pulling when he is upset. I do know jids on the spectrum that do exhibit some of these aggressive behaviors, I'd definately discuss it with his doctor.

Hi, I'm new to this group. I belong to the pws group. Bryce is 8 and has pws. I have been doing some reading and am wondering about Bryce and his anger outbursts and Autism. I guess I am confused between if it's PWS symptoms or not. Bryce is starting to get violent when mad or upset. Yesterday he was mad as he needed to sit in the back seat of the car,he bumped his head getting in (hardly even touched his head) and he started just bitching, That he hates being in the back seat,he wants me to get a new car,he hates me and the car,as I was bending over him to buckle him in, he punched at me opened handed in the throat! It still hurts today. Bryce has also been hurting his 5 year old sister when they have simple little fights. He grabbed her by the throat and pinched, shoves her in the chest, and pulls chunks of hair out. I'm concerned about what will happen at school if another kid bumps him in the hallway! School starts soon. Last week he hit me really hard in the back when mad at me. So he is acting like this more everyday. I give him time-outs,he says he's sorry. But the next outburst he has, it happens again. HELP. Not sure what to do. Is there medication to help this? And what about the other things like skin picking, and not looking you in the eye when your talking to him. Touches everything with his feet, feet are moving in his sleep even. He does not listen at all. you have to repeat yourself many times over. And crys over anything, not just cry but SCREAMING cry, throwing things, pulling at his hair (thats a new one) So anyone have any idea's? Sarah~ mom to Bryce 8 (pws) and Briar Rose 5.
