Margaret,

I've been on Zoloft for over a
year now and have had no ill effects whatsoever. My
doctor and pharmacist both assure me that it is a very
safe medication.

As your doctor probably told
you, the meds don't change whatever is happening in
your life, but they do allow you to cope with it more
effectively.

Before meds, there were things that I knew I could do to
make my life easier and less stressful, but I couldn't
find the motivation to do them. Now, I am making
progress. Last spring, for example, I took my half of our
tax refund, went to Goody's big spring sale, and
bought clothes that I feel really good in.

This
year, my new year's resolution was to work my way
through the Complete Idiot's Guide to Organizing Your
Life. I'm afraid that the dejunking chapters may take
me all year, but that's ok. Progress, not
perfection. My mood is greatly affected by my environment.
Therefore, creating a serene home is worth whatever time it
takes.

It is possible that you may not need meds long term.
Lots of people go on during a traumatic time -- a
death, a divorce, etc. -- and then are able to go off
once they adjust to their new situation.

Lots
of luck, and keep us posted on your
progress!

Taryn
