Shari~
Welcome to the PurelyPets list. I also feed my dog raw, for the most part.
I would highly recommend purchasing a book from one of the leading
authorities on raw feeding first, if you haven't already. Feeding raw is not
without it's dangers, but it can be minimalized greatly with a little
education, IMHO.
Among the authors I would recommend are Kymythy Schultze, Dr. Ian
Billinghurst or Lew Olson, PhD. The second thing I would look into is a
regional BARF list. I am the listowner of one in NW Arkansas, and we are
there to answer questions and also to find and report sources of raw foods
for our dogs. Sometimes we pool resources to get things cheaper or transport
it from point A to point B. Anyway, it is a great resource of information.
There are also general BARF lists out there that are a wealth of information
regarding what to feed and how to feed it. We would love to have you here on
this list, but there is not a whole lot of BARF discussion going on here.
Good luck in your research and let me know if I can be of any assistance. :)
