Hello Cat ~
I was just reading your email about Frontline. I have
just adopted a 5 month old kitten and he has been
doing alot of scratching. Okay, so my vet gives him
one one application of Frontline and he immediately
started going bizzark. He started scratching, biting
at himself and running around and crying. He started
foaming at the mouth and acted very bizare. This
lasted about 3 minutes. Next she gave him Acarexx in
both ears to due ear mites. Then he started to cry
and dig at his ears and he just went bizzark over all
this. It took him about 10 minutes to settle down.
Reading your article about Frontline, I am worried
now. Do you have any idea why my little kitten would
react so badly? He seemed like something invaded him
and he became terrified. The vet kept him in her
office for 5 hours after that to watch him for any
life threatening side effects. He seems fine today.
He is no longer scratching nor digging at his ears,
but he is not eating.
He does sneeze through the day and this has stopped as
well, right after this treatment. Was wondering if he
was having an allergy to some flees or skin parasites.
He had enlarged lymph glands under both front arms and
underneath his back legs. We ran extensive blood work
and did a needle biopsey on all four enlarged lymph
nodes and he came out with clean health. The test
results suggested looking for a dermatigis reaction of
some sort. He also had a little pancreatic
insufficiency and some anemia but tested normal for
all the necessary Aids test and the markers for FIP
were not there as well.
Please let me know your thoughts.
Inez
