Dee~

We've had some client's pets react pretty badly to products like Frontline.
While my own have never had a reaction, I used to use it very sparingly, if
at all. After dealing with clients whose pets had seizures, etc., that cured
me of ever wanting to use a product like that again. The danger is very real
and the suffering is heartbreaking.

But, to each his own comfort zone. What really did it for me was just over a
year ago, Lovey was going to be bred to Elmer. I took the pkg out for the
Frontline, read all the warnings, thought, "Omigosh, what the heck am I
DOING?" and threw it all away. She was almost due for the heartworm
preventative as well which I always loathed giving anyway. Read that pkg and
threw it away as well!

I just thought, with all the problems breeders are having these days, I think
these poisons are contributing to it! And I'm sure there are many breeders
who think they are doing the proper thing and continually feed the internal
heartworm preventative (been scared by propoganda into NEVER ceasing to give
that even when no mosquitoes are present in the dead of winter!!) internally
even when the dam is carrying a litter, on top of topical spot treatments to
control fleas and ticks.

I know I was very diligent not to have anything toxic when I was pregnant,
and I could not imagine giving those things to me dog while she was pregnant,
or ever again. I knew there had to be a better way, and luckily (in my own
humble opinion), there was. :)

The only dangerous chemical is one you use without being educated as to the
risks, in my opinion. Everyone needs to make their own informed decision as
to their own particular situation. Personally, I don't want to use chemicals
in or around my home, period. I've seen others damaged by various chemicals,
and I don't want to go through what they have gone through.
