Re: [purelypets] Homeopathic Vets

Hi,
Our homeopathic vet recommended that we use a boron/boric acid
compound that he said can either be purchased in a natural pet store
or, there are natural pest control companies that also treat homes and
the carpet with the boron compound. It is supposed to be completely
safe for the pets and humans. Our homeopathic vet has his clinic
treated with the boron compound.
In a book by Ann N. Martin called Protect Your Pet, she actually
used salt in her carpet. She said that she rubbed regular salt into
her carpet and let it sit for a few days and then vacummed thoroughly.
She said that she never had problems with fleas in her home again
and she has various cats and dogs. Her book is published by New
Sage Press (2000) if you want to check it out. You can purchase it
at Barnes and Noble for about 14.95 I think. I haven't tried that
but she stated in her book that it worked 100% for her and her
pets.
We have been using a product called Flea Free on our Shih-Tzu
puppy and she has had no fleas and we are in flea country here in
central Florida. It is a liquid and we mix 1 teaspoon a day into
Maia's food.....1/2 teaspoon with breakfast and 1/2 teaspoon with
dinner. She doesn't even know it is there. We also add some every
day to her drinking water. The manufacturer states that the reason
the product works is because the garlic increases the production of
an enzyme in the blood that "masks" the presence of a plasma protein
that the blood sucking insects (e.g. fleas, ticks, biting flies, etc.)
need to lay their eggs. So, if they are unable to "detect" the
presence of the protein that they need to lay their eggs, they do
not bite the animal. Purely Pets has a very similar product called
Flea Terminator ( I think that was what Darleen said the name was)
so you could check with her to see if that would be something you
might want to use for your pet? Hope you find something that
works! Laura

Well we use Frontline (the original and not the plus) but that's not natural. It certainly is better than a dip, that stuff is toxic and you seriously need to...

I sent my gyrlfriend to the store and she got the salt. I was amazed at how quickly the fleas took "flight". I sprinkled it, put on white socks and rub it in...
