Well Thuja is specific for warts, ear polyps, etc... It is also used for diseases affecting the left side of the body, which in this case, the polyp is in the left ear. The hope is that it will hopefully shrink and eliminate the polyp. If we see no sign of improvement in a week or so, we will be switching to another homeopathic remedy, Calcera C.
I just got the Merck Veterinary Manual, 8th ed., in CD ROM and I really do not like the risks associated with surgery, hence why we are trying an alternative healing method such as homeopathy.
Homeopathy works on energy and the theory of "like curing like". As a biologist, homeopathic medicine is very hard for me to accept, but yet I have seen it work at times. I actually prefer herbal and nutritional therapies as they have more of a basis in science, but at times (like this one) they don't seem to offer much hope, so I consulted with the holistic vet (we use an allopathic one too) and we are trying the Thuja.
With homeopathic remedies, not only should you not touch them (tap them into the cap), but strong odors must be avoided as well. There are many excellent web sites that can explain homeopathic medicine far better than I! An interesting side note -- England's royal family has been using homeopathic remedies for generations and it is used widely throughout Europe.
By the way, what is a LFC penlight, how do you use it and where do you get one?
