I'm glad to see a posting on this list as I signed up a couple of weeks ago
and had gotten nothing.
The suggestion of back ground reading is really a good one. I had purchased
NATURAL PET CURES by a Dr. Heinerman that I found just uncovered the tip of
the natural health iceburg on pets but loved it. It has a number of recipes
for homemade food which I have been experimenting with for some time. I am
certainly going to be looking further into reading material for natural
solutions for pets.
I have a 13 year old chow that I have had since she was 4 weeks old. We
also have 2 foster toms which live outside.
Many years ago my environmental doctor told me to feed Pooh Bear raw meat.
When I raised my eyebrows he calmly said, "Did you ever see an animal in the
wild cook it's lunch?" PB has grown up on a pound or so of raw burger a
week and now I give her more raw. She loves carrot juice too. (I am a
nutritionist so the transition to healthier pet care came easier I think.)
I never did drugs for her and she has always had filtered or distilled water
with food grade peroxide in it.
Jessican & Chris, good luck with your dalmation project. There is really a
need for that.
