>Hi list,
>I have a 6 year old male pit/chow mix that once spring and summer
is
>here he gets hot spots around his back area, it gets soo bad he has
to
>have cortizone shots, which to me is a temperary fix from him
destoring
>his coat and torturing himself. Any suggestions on what to give him
for
>as I have noticed a small start to these hotspots today. I know
with
>this weather being so unstable and allegienes in the air, could
have
>started his hotspots, hopefully with this cold temp time will keep it
in
>check until I can start a regimine for him to prevent it before it
gets
>worse.
This sounds like a yeast infection which is a very common problem. I am
sending you a copy of a yeast article I wrote. It explains what a yeast
infection is, the symptoms, and how to treat it naturally. Please see if
the symptoms fit and let me know.
You are welcome to call or email anytime. My toll free number is
Yeast & Bacterial Infections
By Darleen Rudnick, Pet Nutritionist
A yeast infection, commonly called Candida, is very common in pets and is
the cause of many health problems. When a pet's immune system is healthy
the body is able to destroy the yeast, however, when the immune system is
weak, the yeast will produce in mass amounts causing toxins that disable
the immune system and prevent it from functioning properly. In this
case, the immune system can not destroy the yeast. At this point, the
pets system becomes altered and become sensitive to foods causing
allergies. Yeast resides and thrives in moist, dark, warm places, such
as the mouth, intestines, ears, and nose.

Signs and Symptoms of a Yeast Infection

Food Allergies
Food Sensitivities
Hypoglycemia Reaction
Constipation
Digestive Disturbances
Ongoing Ear Mite Problem
Depression
Muscle and Joint Pain
Mucus in the Stool
Clogged Sinuses
Environmental Sensitivity
Bloating
Flatulence
Diarrhea
Insomnia
Severe Itching & Skin Rashes
Persistent Cough
Fatigue
Chronic Ear Infections
Greasy Skin
Foul Odor from the body or ears
Discharge from the eyes, ears or nose
Scratching in or under the ear
Reddened area inside the ear
Hypothyroidism
Cancer
Immune disorders

Traditional medications are commonly used to treat yeast infections, ear
infections or any type of bacterial infection. However, medications
alter the body's natural balance. For example, a dog's ear canal has a
natural balance of bacteria and yeast. If this balance is altered
through the use of antibiotics, either the bacteria or yeast may
reproduce in larger numbers and affect the balance, resulting in an ear
infection.

Recommendations for treating Yeast/Bacterial/Fungi/Mites/Ear
infections:

1. Yeast & Fungal Detox www.purelypets.com This
is a natural liquid that you give your pet 3-4 times a day. 1 drop is
used per 5 lbs. of body weight.

The ingredients are:

Fresh Spilanthes Leaf & Root, Grape Root, Juniper Berry, Usnea
Lichen and Myrrh Gum tincture of natural anti fungal, antibacterial and
anti-yeast properties.

This product is good for yeast infections, vaginal infections,
fungal/bacterial infections, ringworm, mites and ongoing ear
infections.

This product is $14.25.

2. Ear Relief Wash and Dry www.purelypets.com

This is a must as the first place the yeast will go is in the ears. Ear
Relief Wash and Dry provides fat relief for pets ears that itch, smell or
appear to be raw, red, sore or greasy. Also helps prevent ear
scratching, swimmers ear and wax buildup.

This product is $14.99 and can be purchase by calling Purely Pets.

3. While your pet is going through the yeast detox you need to cut out
ALL grains. Absolutely NO grains in anything should be given. Just
meats, vegetables and other proteins.

4. Dermaplex Shampoo www.purelypets.com This shampoo is
specifically made for this type of problem. It exfoliates dead skin cell
and promotes formation of new skin cells. It is a natural antibacterial
agent, which corrects skin health and aids in itch control. It contains
Salicylic Acid, Vitamin A, Pennyroyal, Aloe Vera and is Tar and Sulfur
FREE.

5. I recommend a vitamin supplement while going through detox. The
vitamin needs to be YEAST free and GRAIN free.. Most vitamins on the
market contain some type of yeast or grain. The vitamin I recommend
is:
something that will be cured overnight. Depending on how bad it is, it
will take about 3 months.
