My name is Becky, and I have a menagerie ;0)
I am a Fancy Rat breeder, and rescuer. At the moment, I have 15 boy rats, 6
female rats, and 7 baby rats that are waiting for their new families to pick
them up. I also have a 3 year old Boston Terrier, a 3 year old male white tabby
cat, a 4 year old black female cat, and a 12 inch Red Lutino Oscar fish.

I have two rescue rats that have chronic respritory problems due to Mycoplasma,
which all rats have but is kept suppressed with their immune systems. My rats
with the Myco flares have scared lungs due to; 1 a past case of Pneumonia when
he was 6 weeks old, and 2 born and raised on cedar bedding with is toxic to
rodents causing lung scaring, respritory damage and cancer with long time
exposure. I am looking for a holistic, or natural way of either suppressing the
myco flares, or treating them, with out the use of antibiotics which lowers the
immune system. The Myco flares lower the immune system and cause the rat to
become susceptible to secondary upper respritory infections. The antibiotics are
to help the symptoms, and not allow the secondary infections, but like I said,
they lower the immune system even more than it is, plus, the rats can become
immune to the antibiotics, so if they DO get sick, the meds wont work.

My questions are also about Colloidal Silver and Colostrum. I have read about
them, and heard a lot about them on another "Holistic" group, but did not
receive the information I needed. I would like to know of anyone who has used
these on their animals, and what the results are. I have found some negative
info about the Colloidal Silver, but would like to know if any one has
experienced the side effects.
