Hi Linda from OK, You too Karen,
My name is Linda also except I am from Ga just east of Atlanta. I have just
joined also and I have 2 Dalmatians and a elderly kitty. Smiley is 4 years
old now and we rescued him from the shelter 2 yrs ago. I was there in hopes
of finding a little dog to keep my disabled husband company. Well this
beautiful Dalmatian got out of his pen and came and sat down in front of me
and smiled the biggest goofy grin, home he came, but he has had a rough 2
years. He was abused before we got him and we had to work through some
issues there and then he came home with Heartworms and Kennel Cough and was
hospitalized. then he was neutered and a couple month later he was Snake bit
and then he got Lymes disease. The problem he has now is multiple seizures.
The Phenobarbital has made him seizure free at a minimal dose but he has
gained over 20 lbs. I recently purchased a little female Dalmatian pup, who
is a bundle of massive super charged energy. Smiley was afraid of his own
shadow and got along great with my cat who we rescued at 2 wks 10 years ago
when the mom cat died. Now Jewel (pup) and Lil Girl(cat) wage battle at
every turn trying to set dominance ranks. Jewel has been great for Smiley's
self esteem he acts like a Big Uncle looking after her and teaching her,
being more assertive, but I see more problems in the wind as I do not ever
see Jewel taking a backseat.
I just found a Vet Clinic not very far from me that does practice holistic
care and made a appointment for the 26th for my Zoo crew.
I am a Nurse and a Herbalist as well as a Wild plant Specialist and teach
classes on all the different uses for them. So I know there is a better way
for my babies to live Happy and healthy. Isn't it crazy, all the courses I
have taken and have learned very little about animals. I have started a
addition to my ever increasing library and hope to learn from all of you as
well as from my new Vets.
I am going to thank all of you in advance because I am sure to learn a lot
here
Linda in Ga.

Good to "meet" you Linda! Your critters sound adorable. I'm new to this
myself, so I have no advice for you, but I'm sure others that are more
educated in this area will be able to help. That will be wonderful for you
to get all that training.......we need more people like that instead of the
conventional ones.
