Pam,

Even if Pepcid were prescibed by a vet, I would be very leary of using any
over-the-counter medicines with a dog. How would you even know the proper
dosage?

FWIW, I don't believe in the band-aid effect of most medicines. It would be
more logical to figure out what is wrong and correct it, in my humble opinion.
Correcting a symptom could just make it that much harder to diagnose what is
really wrong and delay treatment. Being properly fed and in good health,
there should be no reason to mess with the stomach acid of any person or pet.

Alexandra, do you have Dr. Pitcairn's book on Natural Rearing of Dogs and
Cats? I think your dobe would really benefit from a fasting as laid out in
those
pages. Either she is allergic to her food, or she is getting into the kitty
litter, or she is sick.

When you took her to the vet, did they at least do some blood work? That
would give you some clues as to what may be wrong. And as for the vaccinations,
NEVER let them give vaccinations to a sick pet! It says right on the vials
that they are only to be given to healthy animals and any vet who does otherwise
is not worthy of being my vet. Also, have you heard that annual vaccinations
are not only unneccesary, but harmful? Most vets worth their salt are NOT
pushing annual vaccinations anymore anyway, unless they are greedy.

Just my humble opinion, of course~
