Re: [purelypets] Dog and cat health issues

Sandy,

I'm sorry to hear about Laddie's problems with his back, legs, and hips. I
cannot give you veterinary advice, but if it were my dog, I would not use
Prednisolone (which is a steroid) because of the dire side effects. The weight
gain is just the tip of the iceberg. I am more concerned with the toxicity, the
shortening of his life, the suppression of the symptoms with no real cure or
effect. In other words, if he went off of it, would the condition be improved?
No, not at all, but with supplements like chondroiton sulfate, et.c and the
vit C, you can actually see some improvement over time. There would be a
noticeable regression without it, but what I am saying is that it does replace
the
joint fluid and nourish the cartiledge.

The Predisolone would also suppress the allergy symptoms, but would not help
cure them at all.

I don't have much knowledge of the Honey Balm for pets, but the Ester-C
tablets should be fine. I would caution you that pets with allergies sometimes
react to flax oil (I believe because it is seed/grain based). Have you read the
allergy article at PurelyPets.com?

If Laddie is pacing and panting after the honey and flax, something is not
agreeing with him. The only way to tell is to give one at a time and see which
one.

Felix may have something serious going on. Can you bring him in for testing
and not have to actually give him any medicines and stuff? I use my
allopathic vet as a diagnostic tool only for the most part. Also, what are you
feeding? Has he had any vaccinations or anything toxic lately like something
for
flea control?
