Hi everyone,

My name is Sandy and I was just approved to join this group. I have a
soon-to-be-four year old Sheltie named Laddie that has suffered many ailments in
his short life. He has been diagnosed with arthritis in his back and legs, and
a mass has developed over one of his hips. He has gone from a vibrant,
energetic dog to one that sits around and does nothing. He has gained a lot of
weight (he is supposed to weigh about 16 pounds but has ballooned to 27). I
have been giving him cold pressed flax oil and honey balm once a day. That
seems to be helping, but I would like to know if there's anything else I can do.
I just started him on Ester-C as well. Also, does anyone have suggestions on
ways to help him reduce his weight? It seems no matter how dramatically I drop
his food intake he continues to gain weight. The vet says his thyroid is fine,
so I don't know if there is any medical problem that can be causing this severe
weight gain. You all can see my Laddie boy on his website at
http://www.geocities.com/Laddies_person/Laddie.html.

Thanks for any advice you can give.

Sandy
