First, it is important that you have a good doctor that you feel good with. Next ask lots of questions. I can imagine that depression is hard to deal with in itself-and you have other sicknesses that are a real downer too. This sounds easier said than done but be positive, live positive, surround yourself with positive. Please dont let people scare you with "thier" stories. PTC is different for everyone and if your active in your treatment you are sure to be fine.
I lost weight by eating low calories, eating fresh foods, no sugar, and drank tons of green tea!! Talk to your doctor about your situation with the weight loss. The diamox should bring the swelling down in your optic nerves. Dont try to just rely on the diamox. It is important that you loose any weight possible that you can yourself. Once again easier said than done. I lost a few pounds and there was a noticeable decrease in pressure. There are gonna be people who swear that weight has nothing to do with PTC and the docs have no clue about it and so on and so on. Like I said please dont let these people get to you. PTC is difficult and can be a little scary at times. With hope, determination, and love YOU WILL get through it! Im always here to talk to and will try to help as much as I can.
God Bless!!! ;]
Peace and much love,
Jessica

Subject: [ptc] Newly diagnosed in NJ
Hi I just got diagnosed with PTC and I am at a total loss of what to
do. I have Polycyctic Ovarian Syndrome, depression and anxiety also,
so I have been really depressed over this diagnosis. I am on Diamox
but otherwise am not being treated with anything else.
I am severely overweight and my Dr. said losing weight would help. I
was going to get the gastric band surgery for weight loss since
because of the PCOS it is really hard for me to lose weight on my own
(I've been trying so hard to no avail...) but they said they won't do
it until the swelling in my optic discs goes down.
I was just wondering what I can expect (I was literally diagnosed like
3 weeks ago) and what I can do, anything holistic I can do? Also, any
other overweight sufferers what do you recommend for weight loss? Any
info on anything would be nice actually since I am so lost in all this.
Thanks so much.
