Boy that's a toughie. IH and Meniere's can overlap in more than a few ways. Meniere's is such a bugger and from what you have said before you have quite the nasty case of it. Having had the shunt removed could cause those problems but from here it would be just a guess.
As for meds and weight that is another can of worms. You have problems that require meds...but the meds cause problems. It is a vicious cycle. If you can lose the weight that is in your best interest. Unfortunately, portion control isn't usually enough if you are unable to exercise....which is difficult to do when you feel like you are spinning like a top.
I wish I could actually give you some useful advice but I think things are gonna have to shake out for a bit for you. See what the ophthalmologist has to say and that may push you in the right direction.
Sorry Terri. Keep in touch please.
Glen =)

Subject: [ptc] me again with a couple of ??;s
I haven't posted in a while, but have a couple of questions. Glen I hope u r reading this, u know I depend on u a lot, lol.
I had to have my vp shunt removed because I kept bumping my head, so much that my tube showed through.
This was on April 8th. Since then, I have been so very dizzy, not just that, it is hard to explain but my balance is way off. Is this because of the shunt being removed or could it be my Meniere's?
While in the hospital the drs put that monitor in my head, (luckily I was asleep when they put it it) and monitored my pressure. It spiked out over 40 a couple of times, but over all average it was 17.
Now a week from today I will go back for a visit to my opthomolgist to see if there is any swelling on my optic nerve. I don't think there is, but my vision is extremely blurry.
My surgeon is going to decide on whether or not to put the other shunt in based on her report. I would like your opinions.
Last but not least a question regarding weight loss. My meds all cause weight gain. My local dr says it is not water, it is actual weight. With my balance being way off, any suggestions? I have been watching portion control. I am proud of those of you who have had the surgeries, but I am still afraid of them, and my local drs are advising against them.
Thank's for listening,
terri
