Freeda and MsDelite...ditto for me! It took three years to get a diagnosis, at which time, my vision had regressed to legal blindness (couldn't leave the house alone) and I was forced out of my job. Becoming my own personal science experiment and keeping track of what I was eating...have become a way of life. Sodium, red meat and milk products, in addition to almost everything that comes in a can, jar or box have become the enemies...but I have my 20/20 back and a driver's license. I have mild tinnitus and continuing muscle issues....BUT my head is not going to explode any minute! HOWEVER, if I have a fever, my vision becomes extremely blurry and my head is back to square one. So if this is remission, I'll take it.
Some doctors wonder if our own personal growth hormones are the catalyst for weight gain (and the basis for associating weight with developing intracranial hypertension)...speculative, but certainly my experience. We know that some patients who have received human growth hormones (to grow taller, develop muscle mass, etc.) develop IH as a side effect...making their IH secondary to medication, unlike idiopathic (no known cause) IH which most of us have. This is an area that begs for research.
Peace and prayers,
Ralpha

Hello MsDelite143:
I hope that all is well with you. I was diagnosed with PTC in 2005 but am almost certain that I had it long before that and did not know it until it reach its max. I have since continued to go in and out of remission too.
So far, I have learned the hard way, that keeping my weight under control actually does help control the problems with my eyesight and Optic Nerves being swollen. However, I am not able to work due to a number of problems with pain, lack of balance, muscle weakness and tremors...No doctor has been able to pinpoint this problem. They say it is unrelated but I really have my doubts.
I have to exercise when possible and keep control of what I eat, especially sodium. I hope this was helpful.
