Welcome to Prozac Truth. We are a group dedicated to exposing the damaging effects of SSRI anti-depressants. These drugs have long been acclaimed to be non-addictive and to have few lasting side effects. Many of us have discovered that the serotonegic medication we thought would deliver us from emotional and physical pain had become our enemy.

We believe we should take responsibility for our own well-being, to communicate our withdrawal difficulty to our doctors and help them better understand some of the devastating side affects of these drugs.

Some of us have been on these types of medications only a few days and some for 10 years or more. Most of us began at a rather small dosage. Some, upon advice of doctors who trusted the drug companies propaganda, are on unbelievably high dosage and dangerous combinations of these drugs.

We are all in various stages of withdrawal. If you are still taking these drugs and feel they are helping you, we understand - most of us once felt that way too. In time, you may come to our place of understanding. Until then, if you are not yet ready to begin the journey to remove yourself from the influence of SSRI's, there are groups that discuss how to stay "on" them and still have a life.

These groups might also advise other types of SSRI's you may want to experiment with. Prozactruth, however, is a place to discuss getting free of anti-depressants altogether.

Our group was formed to help one-another recover our lives. Through sharing our experience (both failure and success) we can succeed in getting free of medications that have taken over our will and our lives.

We want you to feel at home here. Even though our experience may vary, there is a commonality that binds us. Feel free to post ideas on what worked for you and what didn't - this is how we learn and grow.
