I saw quite a bit of discussion on this news story in other prostate
cancer venues. The comments ranged from "so 4 out of 5 people have no
regrets?" to "this is an unacceptable level of (dis)service".
I read it as perhaps a lot higher expectations of the robotic surgery
with respect to side effects (ED and incontinence) that are not
significantly (if at all) better than with open surgery. While
robotic surgery is my fallback choice (if I an unsuccessful in getting
PBT approved for coverage) I'm doing it based on it being "less"
invasive and shorter surgical recovery. Not based on claims of
lessened side effects.
