I am neither a physician nor a nutritionist and do not post this
message as a professional. With the stress of modern life, many of
us are willing to spend money on herbal cures or supplements based on
the claims of those who wish to sell these products. Some have
effective results, most do not. Presently there is a major study
undertaken by Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY that
includes over 30,000 men to study the effects of saw palmetto and
selenium on prostate function and cancer. All who are concerned
should be looking for the results of this study. As many know,
earlier studies indicate some benefit in this herb and element in
prostate health.
As far as many of the claims made for many of these other
compounds on prostate health, sexual prowess, and other health
issues, I hold no faith in the claims. I know that my own health is
more effectively improved through a balanced and low fat diet and
plenty of exercise. Even for many of us who think of our lives
as "active" ones, many hours of each day are spent sitting or in
other sedentary occupations. We also tend to use our automobiles to
get everywhere we are going - even if it is only a block or two
away. Finding time to exercise, including walking to the store, is
often difficult. We believe that we don't have time to walk because
we have to get back to .... (fill in the blank).
There is no pill or combination of pills that will give us
better health than we can obtain through a sensible diet and
exercise. If we would stop overeating, limit consumption of high-fat
and highly processed foods, and exercise daily, our health will
improve greatly.
Dan
