Hi,
Our shelter supervisor sent out the following email the other day.
We have a horse in need that was abandoned and needs Eye Surgery.
Here are the details. I was thinking about taking the money that I
would have sent to the GA program and use it to help Pirate. If you
would like to help, let me know and you can either send money to me
or directly to the shelter. He is a great looking horse, just needs
a little help so that he can be adopted.
Thanks
Dan
Dear Horse Lovers-
Thank you so much for your support of our horse adoption program at
the shelter! This year, we have rehabilitated and placed three
horses in new, loving homes. Our latest equine in need is Pirate, a
14yo Quarter Horse mix gelding found wandering on Ferguson in
Gilroy. He has been at the shelter since August 12, and no one has
claimed him. He is very easy to handle and has been ridden (he came
in with three shoes on and major wither scarring from an ill-fitting
saddle). We trimmed his feet and have been fattening him up;
however, he needs to have eye surgery to be adoptable. Many people
have expressed interest, but changed their mind at the thought of a
big vet bill. Tri-County Vet has already done some diagnostic work
on him, so we would like them to do the surgery. It will cost
~$1000, $200 of which the shelter can pay from our medical fund. If
you wish to donate, please send checks to: South County Animal
Shelter, 12370 Murphy Ave. San Martin CA 95046. Checks can be made
out directly to "Tri County Vet." Pirate goes to a foster home this
weekend to continue his rehabilitation; I will get pictures and send
updates to anyone who is interested. Many thanks!
