Merry Christmas and all the best to you in the New Year
We now have a new addition to our family. Born December 24th at 12:15
AM. We are now Grandparents to a bouncing baby girl. Was 9 lbs 6 ounces
and beautiful, just like her Mom.
This is a horrible time of the year for a baby to be brought into this
world, but we are so happy she is one of our family. She is healthy,
with a good set of lungs as she can sure make herself heard when she
wants something. Not at all like her quiet and soft spoken Grandpa.
We now have a wonderful Christmas present from our daughter, and we
could not be happier.
Wishing you and all of your families a very Merry Christmas.
I am sure we will chat before the New Years, but if I miss anyone I
wish you a very Happy New Year.

Congratulations Grandpa Jack! What better Christmas present could

beautiful baby ever (just look at her Mama and her Grandma!). What is
this lovely baby's name going to be?

Hello my Friends
Well its 3:30 Tuesday afternoon, and we are blessed with an early
Christmas gift.
Our daughter went into labor this afternoon, and is now in the hospital
for the birth of our first Grandchild.
We are sitting here on pins and needles waiting for word that our Grand
Daughter is now one of our family. We are praying that she has no
problems, and is as beautiful as her Mom was when she was born.
Will keep you all informed so you know when you can start calling me
Grandpa.
Hope to have more good news for you soon.
Jack

With 3  weeks before Christmas, REMEMBER:
 Jesus is Better than Santa
Santa lives at the North Pole.

JESUS is everywhere.

Santa rides in a sleigh

JESUS rides on the wind and walks on the water.

Santa comes but once a year

JESUS is an ever
- present help.
Santa fills your stockings with goodies

JESUS supplies all your needs.

Santa comes down your chimney uninvited

JESUS stands at your door and knocks.. and then enters your heart.

You have to stand in line to see Santa

JESUS is as close as the mention of His name.

Santa lets you sit on his lap

JESUS lets you rest in His arms.

Santa doesn't know your name, all he can say is "Hi little boy or girl, What's your name?"
JESUS knew our name before we did. Not only does He know our name, He knows our address too . He knows our history and future and He even knows how many hairs are on our heads.

JESUS has a heart full of love.

JESUS offers health, help and hope.

Santa says "You better not cry"

JESUS says "Cast all your cares on me for I care for you.

Santa's little helpers make toys

JESUS makes new life, mends wounded hearts, repairs broken homes and builds mansions.

Santa may make you chuckle but

JESUS gives you joy that is your strength.

While Santa puts gifts under your tree
,
JESUS became our gift and died on the tree.

It's obvious there is really no comparison.

We need to remember WHO Christmas is all about.

We need to put Christ back in Christmas.

Jesus is still the reason for the season.

May the Lord Bless and Watch over you and your loved ones this Christmas 2008

And may He prosper and bless the work of your hands in the New Year.

Hi Jack,
I am so sorrry you have had so many problems with this house. Are
there no laws that have been broken during this sale? Like lieing
about present conditions? I'm a retired schoolteacher and know very
little about real estate. I do know you are not suppose to be given
more than you can stand..So maybe things will improve with the new
year. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. Andrea> -----

Oh, Jack...I am so sorry to hear of your housing and medical problems.  I am guessing that each province has different health benefits and charges...At least, that is what I have read, with their own price setting?  I thought that the pics of your house when you were buying it looked like a fairytale home...I guess, it is impossible to know until one lives some place for a while.  I live a mile from Lake Michigan and we have power outages frequently but have not broken down to get a generator, yet...Some people have but to power and entire house, as you said, costs some dough...We bought our 1950s home in the late 80s and it nearly ate our lunch for a decade...We remodeled and a contractor filed for bankrupcy, leaving 108 families high and dry.  He walked away with !86,000 and no where to show that it was deposited into a bank account.  He stole from lumber and hardware stores as well as several of his "friends."  It was a nightmare, but we did get through it all and are still living here.  After all that, my mantra is "I'm dyin' in this house after all that..."  I know that the winters in Alberta are not good for your health, but Ontario does not sound like the heaven one would have supposed. I am soooo sorry...We will be here when you are back to your usual cheerful and optimistic self, full of jokes and wise sayings to perk everyone up.  In the meantime, know that you are in our thoughts and prayers...If I could wiggle my nose, like Samantha did in the old tv show "Bewitched" and make everything perfect for you and your family, I would...but that's the movies...and this mess is reality...Bummer....Do take care- Steph

It's with much regret that I have to tell you we are throwing in the
towel on southern Ontario.
We have done nothing but throw money at this money pit of a house,
and everyday something new pops up that needs fixing or replacing. I
hate to admit it, but this is the biggest mistake we have ever made.
I cannot get a wheelchair as we have spent a huge amount of our
savings, and now I cannot afford to buy one.
I do not qualify for any help with obtaining a wheelchair, as all
government help is for people who make less than 19k a year.
I cannot get insurance for medical as I have what is called a pre-
existing condition. I can get Blue Cross for medications, but it has
a maximum $500.00 a year for prescriptions. All this for only $194.00
a month premium.
My wifes vehicle insurance went from $550 a year to $1700.00.
Well to top this all off, we had an inspection done on the new roof
we needed for the back of our house, and a power assisted vented
water tank, and we are now told our house needs all new electrical
wiring as this old 1952 wiring is not up to the Provincial code. I
almost cried when we had an estimate of $5000.00 to get this done.
I cannot afford to even buy my medications, and have not had anything
for almost 6 weeks now. Needless to say I am eating tylenol 4's like
they are candy.
When we first moved into our house here one of our new neighbours,
who really is a very neat lady, said if we were smart we would get a
generator for back up power as power outages of 2 or 3 days happen
quite often during the winter months here. Not because of snow, but
because of freezing rain because we are so close to the lake. So
there goes another $1300.00 down the drain for a generator that will
supply us with the minimum of power so we will survive a power outage.
I could go on and on about this nightmare, but I think you all get
the picture.
So, we have decided to sell this house as soon as possible right
after the new year, and move back to Alberta.
The 40 below days will be a breeze after going through what we have
here for the past 2 months.
The only positive thing I can say about our move, is that our
daughter Melissa has cancelled her plans to move here next year. She
has decided to finish her last year of university at the University
of Alberta. So we will be close to our daughter and new grandchild in
the spring.
I am not sure when I will be fit to talk with again, but please know
that I think of all of you often and miss you very much.
When I drag myself out of this horrible depression I am going
through, I hope there will will still be room for me in chat. Right
now I can hardly carry un a conversation with my wife without getting
close to tears. This has to be the biggest screw up I have ever made
and I still don't see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Hoping we can unload this house real quick in January, and it will
get better from there I hope.
Until then,be well and God Bless my friends.
Jack

Dear Jack,
I am so so very sorry for all the trouble you are having. ave you thought about moving to the (good ole U.S.A.?  I dint know if that is possible but I know ,so far I have been helped a lot from different organizations. I wish I could help in any other way but I have no idea what to say or how else to help you.
O am very lonely here in Georgia because of no family and I am trying to adjust to being here alone and have no way to move back to Texas where I came from but I guess we all have troubles. especially those of us with p.p.s. too.
You are not alone .I know everyone in the group are sympathetic with you re situation. and maybe someone much smarter than I can think of something else to help you more.
Just know that I will be praying for you and you re family. and I believe that God wont give us more than we can handle. We all have doubts at these times but just try to believe, and as I said I will be praying for you and yours
lovingly and sympathetically

I am not sure if you remember me or not, but my name is Jack Babcock.
I have to tell you this whole move has been an absolute nightmare. Anything that can go wrong has. Our sump pump failed on us and with all the rain we have been having we were absolutely flooded out. A lot of my wifes treasures as she calls them were ruined becase of the water. We have had to replace rugs, hardwood flooring and just about all the wallboard has watermarks as it is nothing more than paper covered plaster. The contractors are coming tomorrow to start ripping evrything out and replacing whatever was damaged. My wife is a mental wreck and I am right behind her, as we never ever expected to have these kind of problems.
Please let the group know that I haven't forgot them, but I am far from being someone you would want to talk to now.
Hope that things are well with you, and your enjoying your new heated sunbeam bed warmer, and that big ass TV you bought.
Wishing I was back in Alberta up to my butt in snow

So glad to hear from you!!!!   I was wondering how your move went.......and I am so sorry
it is going so bad!!!!!   I haven't been in any chats I think for the past month or so .... so I haven't heard about you.   I can feel for you,  especially after seeing how nice the house was suppose to be and then you find out all these other things that went wrong....I also would have a lawyer after them.....they didn't sell you the house that they was leaving on that you thought you was getting.  I hope it all gets straighten out and you both can really enjoy you new lovely home.   My prayers are with you that everything goes better from here on out.  Everything in this neck of the woods is doing OK (now wait and all hell will break loose)  Jr. is on days ......which we never thought we would ever see...but they shut down the 2 nd. shift completely and move them on first.....which is so much nicer...but it sure makes a difference in our lives....not use to having him home in the evening...and I don't get on the computer hardly at all now.....he just don't care for me to be on the computer at night instead of being with him......you think he would be glad I was on the computer instead of yakking at him...   and this morning when I was looking out of our patio window I seen a young cat under our heating unit....and I thought to myself it's a wonder he's not out running around....(it' s a stray cat....which we have a few running around) then I got to checking and the poor thing froze to death last night....so tonight Jr. is going to have to get rid of him.... I felt so sorry for the cat.....I think it thought it would be warm under there and I am trying to keep our electric bill down...and I haven't turn the heat on yet!!!   But otherwise
things are oK over here.   Next time I hope to hear better news from you that the two of you are really enjoying your new home!!!
Take care
Jane

Hello from sunny Ontario
It has been quite awhile since I have been on-line, but this move has
been a nightmare. We have had nothing but problems, and now I wish I
was back in snowy Alberta.
Lisa and I were so looking forward to moving into a beautiful home
here, but it has been nothing but a money pit from day one.
We were told that this house had a high efficiency furnace, but what
we ended up with was a furnace from the late 80's. We needed to
replace the furnace, which came to almost $4000.00. We now have a
antique furnace sitting in our garage if anyone collects old furnaces.
The house was sold to us with a garage that was supposed to have
power in it. Well it cost me $1200.00 to run power with a breaker box
to this nightmare of a garage. I don't believe anyone has been in
this garage for at least 5 years. It is going to take months to get
rid of all the junk thats crammed into every square inch of this so
called garage. Need to have major renovation done before we will be
able to put a vehicle in it, as it has a door the size of a very
small storage shed. Already have an estimate from a contractor to
make this garage useable, and am looking at about $5000.00 to get
this fixed. Some mechanics dream....... ........
The back yard of this house had a huge Elm tree which needed to be
removed as the roots were ruining all the sewer lines running to the
city sewer system. Also had very large roots actually above ground
making it impossible for me to walk on, and virtually impossible to
run a lawn mower over. Got a real deal on this, as it only cost
$1000.00 to have the tree removed and the stump ground out. Didn't
realize that we needed 6 loads of dirt to level out the ground, and
that we needed sod layed to keep all of this from blowing away, or
washed away by all the rain we have had. That was only $800.00 for
that, and I am told we got a good deal on that.
This home, although it looks fairly new was actually a cottage used
by people from the States during the summer. The house was actually
built in 1955. Because it was only used during the summer, it has no
insulation at all. Sooooo we are scheduled for Monday to have foam
insulation blown into the crawl space, and 12 inches of insulation
blown into the attic so we wont heat the whole city when the snow
starts to fall. this is a big job and the cheapest I can get it done
is $1800.00 plus tax. Again I am told what a great deal I am getting.
The marble counters we were so anxious to see, were actually seconds,
and had chips and cracks in most of the tiles. The chips and cracks
were filled in with grout, and looked absolutely horrible.
The idiot that tried to install this counter using OSB, or what you
may know as chipboard. He did not realize that the tile actually
draws all the moisture out of the chipboard, and causes the counter
to sag and warp. He had the nerve to put braces used for flower boxes
under the counter to try and prop them up. Well the gentleman that is
going to build and replace this counter just left as he had to make a
template for the new counter. This is not marble by any means, and we
will have to live with a laminate counter that only looks like marble.
What a deal I got on this. I didn't have any place to spend the
$2500.00 anyway.
The beautful jaccuzi tub we have is really nice, but our water tank
is not large enough to allow us to use it. We need a new 80 gallon
water tank in order to ba able to use it. I would hate to even tell
you what thats going to us.
Heres the biggest heart breaker of all. During the re-model of this
house, they decided to convert the original garage into a family
room. This family room has a flat roof which has no slope to it
whatsoever. Unfortunately water has nowhere to run, and all the
sheeting is rotted beyond repair. Its a huge job to replace this
roof, and its going to put a $4000.00 hole in our bank account.
I could go on and on about all the repairs that we need to do in
order to make this house livable, but I think you get the message
about whats happening in our crappy little corner of this world.
We have a lawyer working on trying to get some of our money back, but
the owners have moved to Mertle Beach (sp?) to buy a condominium, and
are leaving on a cruise at the end of the month. By the way they
drove to the states in their new class A motor home, which I am sure
I helped pay for.
I finally have my internet set up and have a new e-mail address.
I am now jbabcock12@cogeco. ca
905-991-0434
404 Crescent Road
Fort Erie, Ontario
L2A 4P7
Not sure when I will be into chat, if there even is a chat, as I am
litterally wearing myself out trying to make this house into
something my wife doesn't hate. She is very upset over the fiasco we
have going on here, and she cries enough for 4 people over it.
I hope you all understand whats happening here, and why I have not
been in chat for a couple of weeks, but by supper time I am so tired
and sore that I really not fit company for anyone.
Hopefully I will catch a break soon, and we will get back to a normal
life, but its going to take awhile I think.
I think of you all, and miss you all something awful. I send you all
a big hug, and may God Bless you.
Jack

OK just wondering if any of you have a electric matteress pad??
We are in need of a new one!!!! Mine has seen it's day. Was just
wondering what kind you all have and how do you like your brand??
And if it heats up the whole body....it seems like all mine was doing
was heating up the bottom of my legs.

I have had my heated pad for almost a year now and I gotta tell you I
would have a hard time sleeping without it. I absolutely love sleeping
and waking up pain free.
I do have a little tid bit that might be of some interest to some.
I also have a 3 inch foam cushion right under my heating pad, and once
that gets warm it holds the heat for quite awhile. That way you can put
your heat on high just before going to bed, and it will feel great, but
once the foam is warm you can put your heat on low and you'll be snug
as a bedbug all night.
Between the two my morning pain has gone from 8-9 down to about 2, so
its been a great thing for me, and I believe it was Julie who passed
this info on to me, so I owe her large. Thanks Julie
Sitting in warm sunny southern Ontario.... Should have done this 5
years ago.

Hi, I am on my second Sunbeam Heated Mattress pad and my spine and hip really
appreciate. My physical theropist told me about it and he said that you will
turn in your sleep so the part of your body that hurts the most will be on the
heat. That is what I have found to be true. enjoy and take care Julie

We have one of those mattress pads and they are wonderful. I sleep so much better with it on very low.
