Hi group family,
As a reply to Marilyn's post here is an update as to the progress I am making with the problems have been having.
I am originally from Minnesota, and had polio at the age of 3. I was lucky to have been treated by sister Elizabeth Kennyand had some problems at the time with my left side. I was treated at the Gelette childrens hosp in minn
Had lots of physical therapy and interestingly enough my mom treated me with enemas because the virus is said to start in the intestine then.
I like most of us thought exercize and lots of physical therapy was the answer, and now I am having lots of problems with my joints ect.
to update you guys, i had a needle biopsy of my thyriod and thank God it came back negative no cancer, The Dr wants to do a little surgery for my erosive esophagitus to stop the ingestion of food in my lungs when I sleep.that will be a simple procedure.
the other problem is tendonophathy in my right shoulder. from having too many cortizone shots. and i have a small tumor on my trapiziod muscle on the left side of my spine. that causes lots of pain,
I have an appt at Emory university hospital, they also have pps doctors there as well
I will go on aug 10 to see them.
Thanks for all you're positive thots I really appreciate you all for that
In conclusion I seem to be missing being in the group because I have been taking advantage of our pool and of course resting in between so hope to again get back to the group soon
hope you are doing good and enjoying the nice summer
your's truly,

Hello Fellow Members
Hope you are all doing well this fine Summer day.
Thought I would get the post rolling and share a little info.
My name is Marilyn and I am from Wisconsin. I had Polio at age one
and was diagnosed with Post Polio in my early 30's. Anyone out there
from Wisconsin and remember Camp Wawbeek? I attended an Orthopedic
grade school and had PT every day along with rest periods after
lunch. It was a great experience and I met so many wonderful
friends. Just like here. I was a Passer from grade 9 to my early
30's. At that time I went back into an AFO. Over the next 20 years I
worked fulltime and long hours. Part of it was that I enjoyed what I
did and in honesty I now think the other part was running from the
changes that PPS was giving me. Extreme fatigue and pain finally took
their toll and I have been on medical retirment for a little over 2
years now. I enjoyed what I did and miss the people however I love
having less pain and fatigue. That is if I pace and rest. You all
know what that is don't you?
I would love to hear your story if you feel like sharing.
Marilyn
