Re: [postpoliosyndrome] We are throwing in the towel Re; I am thinking about you.

Dear Jack,
I am so so very sorry for all the trouble you are having. ave you thought about moving to the (good ole U.S.A.?  I dint know if that is possible but I know ,so far I have been helped a lot from different organizations. I wish I could help in any other way but I have no idea what to say or how else to help you.
O am very lonely here in Georgia because of no family and I am trying to adjust to being here alone and have no way to move back to Texas where I came from but I guess we all have troubles. especially those of us with p.p.s. too.
You are not alone .I know everyone in the group are sympathetic with you re situation. and maybe someone much smarter than I can think of something else to help you more.
Just know that I will be praying for you and you re family. and I believe that God wont give us more than we can handle. We all have doubts at these times but just try to believe, and as I said I will be praying for you and yours
lovingly and sympathetically
Nancy Petersen

It's with much regret that I have to tell you we are throwing in the
towel on southern Ontario.
We have done nothing but throw money at this money pit of a house,
and everyday something new pops up that needs fixing or replacing. I
hate to admit it, but this is the biggest mistake we have ever made.
I cannot get a wheelchair as we have spent a huge amount of our
savings, and now I cannot afford to buy one.
I do not qualify for any help with obtaining a wheelchair, as all
government help is for people who make less than 19k a year.
I cannot get insurance for medical as I have what is called a pre-
existing condition. I can get Blue Cross for medications, but it has
a maximum $500.00 a year for prescriptions. All this for only $194.00
a month premium.
My wifes vehicle insurance went from $550 a year to $1700.00.
Well to top this all off, we had an inspection done on the new roof
we needed for the back of our house, and a power assisted vented
water tank, and we are now told our house needs all new electrical
wiring as this old 1952 wiring is not up to the Provincial code. I
almost cried when we had an estimate of $5000.00 to get this done.
I cannot afford to even buy my medications, and have not had anything
for almost 6 weeks now. Needless to say I am eating tylenol 4's like
they are candy.
When we first moved into our house here one of our new neighbours,
who really is a very neat lady, said if we were smart we would get a
generator for back up power as power outages of 2 or 3 days happen
quite often during the winter months here. Not because of snow, but
because of freezing rain because we are so close to the lake. So
there goes another $1300.00 down the drain for a generator that will
supply us with the minimum of power so we will survive a power outage.
I could go on and on about this nightmare, but I think you all get
the picture.
So, we have decided to sell this house as soon as possible right
after the new year, and move back to Alberta.
The 40 below days will be a breeze after going through what we have
here for the past 2 months.
The only positive thing I can say about our move, is that our
daughter Melissa has cancelled her plans to move here next year. She
has decided to finish her last year of university at the University
of Alberta. So we will be close to our daughter and new grandchild in
the spring.
I am not sure when I will be fit to talk with again, but please know
that I think of all of you often and miss you very much.
When I drag myself out of this horrible depression I am going
through, I hope there will will still be room for me in chat. Right
now I can hardly carry un a conversation with my wife without getting
close to tears. This has to be the biggest screw up I have ever made
and I still don't see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Hoping we can unload this house real quick in January, and it will
get better from there I hope.
Until then,be well and God Bless my friends.
Jack
