Hi, can't say if PPS is the reason, but I have exact same symptoms with both parents being polio survivors. Due to severity, I have researched a lot and there are several causes that could yield the same symptoms. An example is if there is a lesion on the C9 or C10 spinal cord/brain stem, it can cause poor posture and other problems, but additional symptoms such as the uvula (hangy down thing at back of throat) off to side when saying Ahh can warrant more research that direction. It would be hard to say if PPS is the underlying cause in that example, but research into these other directions should always be ruled out. There are some medicines, formulas, vaccines, etc. that mothers used in the late 50's and during the 60's that caused problems too. There are other things such as
lupus, lyme disease, depression, fibromyalgia, black boxed prescription medicines, etc. that can cause similar problems. It can even be multiple causes, instead of one. I can relate to someone having these kind of problems, and I can tell you your support for your wife is the best medicine to start with! Her knowing you care enough to research will mean something to her even if she doesn't admit it. Go for walks with her if possible and keep her active. There might be something in getting a carnitine level lab test. I hope she can find relief. Mike
