A printable registration form (pdf format) is available online at
http://www.animalhelp.com/pets/LARTapp.pdf
This can also be accessed directly from the front page of www.animalhelp.com
along with more information and some great photos of the training online
there too, so that you can see what type of things we will be doing.
Normal cost for the course is $320, but I have discounted for the fire
rescue personnel who are already registered to $275, which is as low as I
can go due to the costs of putting on the training.
The registration form can be faxed (so that your place in the class can be
secured) and then you can mail a check. I am also working with one fire
department who I will be invoicing for their members, so we are flexible
depending upon your needs. Feel free to contact me with any questions!

AnimalHelp.Com's Equine / Large Animal Technical Emergency Rescue Training
Course is rapidly approaching! There are still a few spots left! Join us
July 15th-17th at Hilton Head Island, SC for 3 days of intense classroom and
hands-on training using live horses and real rescue equipment, learning how
to rescue horses from flood waters, deep mud, bridge or ditch emergencies,
trailer accidents, etc...
Classroom Training
Each day begins with classroom training introducing you to a wide variety of
subjects dealing with large animal rescue. You will become familiar with the
behavioral characteristics of horses and other large animals in stressful
environments, equipment used in restraint and containment, and the use of
sedatives or tranquilizers in rescue. The students will become familiar with
the Incident Command System as it relates to law enforcement and emergency
medical responders who will be on the scene. Each aspect of the hands-on
training will also be introduced so that students understand the procedures
they will work within once they get out into the field for the afternoon
sessions.
Hands-On Training
Following the classroom session each day will be a chance to put to use all
of the knowledge you have gained. Using real horses and a llama, students
will practice the forward assist of a down horse, placement of leg hobbles,
mud rescue, vertical lift, and airlift rescue. Students will also
participate in a mock trailer accident learning how to upright a horse
trailer using good old man-power.
Night Search and Rescue Operation
On the 2nd day of training, students will return to the training site two to
three hours after sunset to participate in a nighttime search and rescue
operation. This will require students to rely heavily on their day's
training, as they must "find" and rescue a real horse from a thickly wooded
ditch.
Audience
Technical Large Animal Rescue Training is available to anyone 18 years of
age or older who may be involved in the rescue of large animals from
disaster and emergency situations. Candidates for this training include Law
Enforcement Officers, Fire/Rescue, Military Veterinarians, Large Animal
Veterinarians, Disaster Animal Response Team Members, Horse Owners, and
anyone interested in the rescue of horses and other large animals.

Hello,
I have a question about finishing paramedic school. Please respond back
with your thoughts and answers about this.
I had started medic school in WI back in the fall of '03. The course I was
enrolled in slammed me with a full very thorough medic curriculum in about
5-6 months M-F 8-430. I honestly couldn't handle that kind of load and was
unable to switch to the part-time/night class. My enlistment date for the
Navy was coming up in a few months so having nothing planned in-between I
enlisted a bit early. No harm done going in early, but now as I've been to
a few different places and seen how limited my EMT-B status makes me, I
really want to finish school. I keep up my NREMT-B status for any future
opportunities, such as this.
As it stands right now the Navy really doesn't have any interest in sending
me to medic school, but if I have the certs and lic I can use them. The
other problem is in my current location the closest paramedic training
facility is in Tacoma WA and they run daytime classes (but not as jam packed
as my last class.) So that is an hour away and the same hours I work on
base.
I know that most medics schools have fairly strict rules on attendance and
classroom time, but does anybody know of any school that would work with me
on this?
If it is at all and option I have all the books to study from, plus a bunch
more training through Navy corpsman school and the good stuff like ACLS,
PHTLS, NALS, PALS I am working on through the Navy.
From my point of view I'm reaching out for a miracle in this location and
situation, but any answers and thoughts are welcome!!
Thanks,
Doc Patrick
