At last we are trying to balance our views. There are many
positive sides (they are there but you won't see them if
you are not looking for them).
Yes! Poyap that's why Raita Tamaki (5th year Japanese
Medical student) is studying in PNG. When I first saw him
in Manus during my residency rural block, he envied me and
told me, it is almost impossible to go to medical school
in Japan unless your parents are big shots or business
people. That time he was a high school science teacher
under the JICA program. One day his students asked me to
go to school and speak to them about any health related
topics. However, I couldn't go so what they did was write
down all the questions they had and Raita brought it to me
at home. We went through the questons and he wrote the
answers down. One question said, 'if I want to become a
Medical Dr, how much school fees should I pay?' I said,
around 3000 kina or slightly more per year. He gave a
surprise look at me and asked, 'is this figure correct?'
and I said, 'yes!'. Without going through the rest of the
questions, he asked again, 'is it possible for me to go to
UPNG medical school?' And then it all started.....his
dreams came true in PNG. We should really appreciate....we
paid much less for a quality education recognised and
accepted internationally.
Good point Poyap! keep it up.
