Re: [Placenta Abruption] Miscarriage at 22 weeks   Message List

Hello Julia,

I am so sorry for your loss. It is still so recent, I understand the hurt and
emotions you are feeling. I too lost a son by placenta abruption at 24 weeks.
It happened on September 19, 2004. I was left with so many unanswered
questions and with every answer I received from a Doctor, the more questions I
had. I found out that I had an infection and they believe the infection may
have caused me to go into labour which may have caused the abruption. Answers
like these are supposed help comfort your loss or help put your mind at ease. I
guess the issue is that it never feels good enough when all our questions aren't
answered scientifically. The last ultrasound image I had of my son was a few
hours before he was born. He was sucking his thumb and looked perfectly ok.
Hours later he was born with a heartbeat of 50 bpm. I only pray that he was
able to hear mine and his fathers voice before he passed.

Please let us know how you are doing....

I hope that you will find the caring and support that I found from this group.
If you ever want to chat my email is sarmaloney@.... My prayers are with
you. Take care.

Sarah
xoxo

Hi.. I first got on this board when I was 14 weeks and got diagnosed
wtih Placenta Abruptio. (3rd pregnancy, am 39) I was told at that
point by a high risk doctor that I could miscarry at anytime.they
didn't put me on bed rest even though i continued to bleed every
day. I got weekly ultrasounds, then was told the blood clot was
gone, my chances of miscarriage were totally gone. Fast forward 24
hours later, when I started hemoraging and bled for 6 hours in 2
different ER's and then went into labor and my baby was gone. This
happened 3 weeks ago. The reason I am posting this is because these
doctors don't really know and can't predict what will happen
apparently. I struggle every day with how my son could look
perfectly fine in an ultrasound, the placenta had re-attached, no
sign of blood clot and then he died the next day. Thanks for taking
the time to read this and good luck to everyone struggling with this
challenge.
-Julia Kobe
