James - I am so happy for you! What an amazing story!
Assuming the doctor is correct, the cause of your pain
could not have been diagnosed or treated effectively
without surgery.

Your gut instinct that you had to try surgery proved
so accurate.

Your experience shows that sciatica and pain in the
piriformis region is not necessarily piriformis
syndrome. I think so many people are misdiagnosed and
that is why standard piriformis treatment doesn't help
them.

Now we know why muscle relaxants didn't help you -
because muscle spasm was not clamping down on the
nerve.

Hope you have a speedy recovery and can back to normal
soon. Truly a happy Easter. Mary

Hi Mary, thank you so very much for your words of support. Yes, my gut feeling was to go for surgery. Hopefully it was the right one which only time will tell....
