I am home from surgery that I had last Monday.
I expected to have Piriformis muscle release surgery
but they found no problem there after they opened me
up. What they did find were "clusters" of blood
vessels wrapped around the sciatic nerve in 2 places,
exactly where the pain was centred in my hip area and
down the back of the leg. One cluster was up near the
butt cheek, the other a little further down the thigh
at the back. The surgeon removed the clusters of blood
vessels and freed the sciatic nerve. He is confident
that was the problem. Evidently I can live without the
blood vessels. It is too soon to tell if the surgery
is a total success as I cannot sit yet due to the 10
inch incision at the back of my leg. I go back to see
the surgeon at the end of the month. Hopefully I can
sit by then. All for now, James.
