Mary - Yes it was a work injury. Actually two injuries. One had to do with
my transcribing murder trial tapes which were an extreme rush and
voluminous. I worked my regular 8 hr. days, plus some overtime nights and
then on the following two weekends. During that time, sitting all this
time, I noticed pain in the butt, and eventually numbness and tingling down
leg which never left me. Someone said to me, Hope you don't think it's
workers comp injury. I wrote a typewritten page about why it WAS w/c and
sent to everyone in management. I went to Kaiser then for many many years
with no relief - they misdiagnosed it, therefore, didn't get correct
treatment. Quite some years after, still in pain mind you, I kept having to
unjam printer. The kind that was on the floor - had to bend over each time
it jammed. There were rushes to get out. By day's end, I was in terrible
pain. Boss said I should put in a w/c claim instead of using my sick
leave/vacation days. Eventually I did, and after a few deadbeat orthos,
ended up with a great neuro. But even with all his help and meds, the pain is
still here. Physical therapy - many many years of each year at least 2 to
3x per year courses of 6-8 weeks of pt. Helps while I'm there, but comes
back again. Neuro feels that I have scarring on sciatic nerve & surrounding
areas since I've had this so long. Also have moderate spinal stenosis and
bulge on other side - but doesn't bother half as much. Whew -- sorry it's
soo long! Thanks and wishing everyone at least some pain free moments along
the way. Maureen
