I found an article that mentions piriformis syndrome
as one of many diagnoses associated with Chronic
Pelvic Pain. The article discusses treatment options.
Under the evaluation section it states, Pelvic floor
muscle instruction is important to regain control &
coordination of (pelvic girdle & trunk) muscles.
In other words, doing the piriformis_stretch_ &
abdominal strengthening exercises alone will not
produce pelvic stability & pain reduction.
This article is a useful starting point for anyone
looking for alternatives when the standard physical
therapy for piriformis syndrone has failed. Of
particular interests are the paragraphs on biofeedback
& also manual therapy.
