If you review the posts at this site, you will find no
one has reported any success with injections of any
kind. Generally, you get 24 hours of pain relief from
the anesthetic. I f there is pain relief after 24
hours, it is generally short -lived.
Personally, I have had trigger point injections,
prolotherapy injections, cortisone injections,
epidurals & facet injections. None gave me anything
more than 24 hours relief. And frequently, once the
anesthetic wore off, I had more pain & immobility
because of the pain inducing positions I was put in
for the injection process.
Catherine had 7 botox injections with no effect.
According to "Treatment of Low Back Pain: Closing the
Gap between Research & Practice",
"There is no evidence that other interventions (e.g.
antidepressants, steroid injections, acupuncture & EMG
biofeedback) are effective. However, effects are
usually small & short term effects only."
I would caution you not to pin your hopes on these
injections, because you will only be disappointed.
Please report your experiences & long term effects
back to the group. We can learn from the group's
collective experience.
It is not necessary for each one of us, to go through
the same ineffective but expensive treatments that
have not worked for anyone else with this condition.
Good luck! Mary
