Re: [Piriformis syndrome] New Member

Hello Rachel,

I too am new to this list.  Therefore I have no information for you, but rather want to say that I too need this group for support and also for information.

Unlike you Rachel, I am almost 68, but my story goes back to when I was 11 and fell two stories and landed on my tailbone and lower back.  For decades now I have lived in constant pain of one sort or another from my neck, back, hips, etc, etc, yadda, yadda.  But nothing like this.  Now I can hardly stand or walk for the pain in my left hip and calf.  My dx is one of pseudo-sciatica with PS.

Now I have a dx.  Now what?  I have an excellent chiro and massage therapist, both of whom I have had for over ten years and both of whom are trained far beyond the basics, with my chiro doing ART although he calls it MRT.  They cannot so far stop the pain.  I have exercises including the figure 4, and all kinds of stretches and so forth.  It's been over two months of being incapacitated...seeing the guys for only the last 3 weeks...we were away for several months...and I need to know what to do.  I have been gobbling Ibuprophen for the first time in my life, but have GERD so it makes me quite nervous.

I'll quit with my tale now, but need to know how to help myself.  I have read some of the files but there appears to be no files on exercises.

Thanks.  Darienne

It probably is time to see an MD. Being barely able to stand or walk because of hip/calf pain is NOT typical of Piriformis Syndrome. Usually patients spend as...
