Hi I am new to this group. I am a 54 year old housewife, I live in central FL. I have been reading the older post and I am up to post #54. They are very informative but heart wenching that so many of you went years without even being correctly diagnoised. And sad that there doesn't seem to be a proven treatment that works for any length of time.
I had never heard of PS untill Monday when my chiropractor told me he thought I had it. I had had a pain in my hip/leg that started getting pretty painful a couple of months ago. I wasn't too concerned I had had a pinched nerve before and assumed that was what this was. I went to a chiropractor ( this was not the chiro that diagnosed me with PS) twice and after his adjustment I only felt a little better and only for a few hours.
By Thanksgiving jDayI was having alot of pain but not constant, by Monday Dec 1,2008 I was really hurting. So I called a chiropratic clinic I had used when I had the last pinched nerve. I saw a Chiroprator that had joined the practice since my last visit there. My former Chiropractor had since retired.
My Chiro Dr G first examined me and said it could be one of a couple things one being PS, he then did xrays and warmed up my back hip and had me hooked up to something that stimulated my hip area (Sorry I am not more specific as to correct terms I was really hurting and just trying to get thru each minute) He did some adjusting on my back and hip. Showed me some stretching exercised for me to do. Told me to sleep on my good hip, with a pillow between my legs when I slept on my side. And when I slept on my back to have a pillow under my knees. He was very up front about not have a sure cure for this condition. He showed me some stretching exercised to do 3x a day. I was still in quite a bit of pain the next day. By mid day I felt alot better, but alot of pain at nite.
Wednesday I went back to My Chiro Dr G and he again gave me a similar treatment, warmup, hooked up to a machine that stimulated my hip butt area and adjusted me.
Thursday I began to have hope that I would get better. But by evening I started getting alot of pain.
Friday I went to Dr in the am Hurting some and again a similiar treatment. By Friday afternoon I was feeling pretty good until evening again then the pain.
Sat (today) am woke up hurting but not terrible pain, got up and then started having pain again. My husband rubbed biofreeze on the back of my legs where the pain was and massaged them. I have had pain off and on today not as extreme as earlier this week. I seem to always feel better during the day.
I have tried cold, heat, massage, biofreeze ointment, walking. This is something else. I have never had a pain where there doesn't seem to be anyway to actually relive some of it.
Do my symptoms mimic any of yours? I feel after the first 54 posts that I read mine is not as severe as the first posters.
I might mention that the last few months I have been letting my grandaughter nap on me while I laid in the recliner. I thing this is where my problem began. She is now 13 months old. I watch her 5 days a week for my son. I also have spent alot of time in the early am and evenings on the computer.
I have also allowed my self to overeat and am 172 pounds on my 5 foot 4 inch frame. As of this week I have cut back on my eating and watching what I eat.
I am not very good at expressing my thoughts nor a good speller. I really appreciate finding this group and all the information it has. It is nice to know others in the same boat.
Sincerely
Sue in Fl |
