Good to hear form you Joyce. I have been worried about
you.
Maybe you should call the Pain Mgmt clinic to ask
about your app't. Sometimes, things get "lost in the
shuffle". I would hate for you to have to wait months
more because of an oversight.
I'm not clear on the proposed injection. Will they be
injecting the around around S1 (for low back pain) or
specifically the Piriformis muscle itself?
You asked "Can you tell me this: image after having a
shower you put your foot on the loo sit to dry your
legs, when leaning forward to dry your feet (sometimes
I can't even do that) would you feel the muscle
pulling across the buttock area? "
The position you describe is a variant of the
Piriformis stretch. So one would feel the muscle if it
where tight. But there are also so many muscles in the
butt, if any of them were tight, you might feel some
of those muscles as well.
At this point, I can't speak to the other issues you
are raised in your e-mail. But I will share your info
with my PT on Tuesday. And I'll get back to you if she
has any thoughts on your symptoms or questions she may
suggest you ask the Pain Drs or your surgeon.
I don't remember, do you normally have sciatica? Or do
you never have it?
Happy Easter. Best wishes, Mary
