How Doctors Think   Message List

You may have already heard about Dr. Jerome
Groopman's new book, "How Doctor's Think". Shockingly,
he says doctors typically give a patient 19 seconds to
describe their problem before making a diagnosis. And
20% of diagnoses are wrong.

He offers patients advice on what to ask their doctor
if they are not getting better ("What else could it
be?". "Could two things be going on at the same time?"
& how to find a good referral.

This book doesn't deal with Piriformis Syndrome, but I
consider it a must read for anyone who has a medical
problem & isn't getting better.

If you don't want to buy the book, you can hear a 45
minutes interview with him at
http://www.onpointradio.org/shows/2007/03/20070326_b_main.asp
( a high speed internet connection works best)
