Surgery

Hello All.

Here is an update.

It has been a while since I posted anything. My search
for diagnosis and answers to my sciatic problem
started in 2000. After 4 years of tests which really
showed nothing I had surgery in 2004. I went into the
surgery expecting them to release the piriformis
muscle. What they found were "vein clusters" wrapped
around the sciatic nerve in the area of the gluteal
crease. These were removed and the piriformis muscle
was never released.
I had all the symptoms of Piriformis Syndrome. The
surgery was only a partial success. I was able to sit
for longer periods but the pain would return
eventually. I am not totally convinced the piriformis
is not still the problem.

A knee cyst was discovered on an MRI in Sept 2005. I
have been waiting for arthroscopic knee surgery since
December 2005. This could be the cause of my ongoing
sciatic nerve(or another nerve)problems. The surgeon
is 70 to 80% confident my problems will be alleviated.
I feel I have to give it a try. If it does not work I
will try something else.
As anyone with this problem knows you will try
anything to get your life back.
I am having the surgery on February 7th and will keep
you posted.
James.
